Gay tunes, the best Bing has had in a long while, are enlivened by | duet arrangements for Bing and| Gloria that are particularly effec- tive. And with the addition of a clever supporting cast and an ex- cellent screen play, “If I Had My Way” is. altogether an appealing film. Bing appears as a steelworker, one of a trio of pals that include El Brendel and Donald Woods. Gloria is the daughter of Woods, and when the father is killed in a bridge accident Bing and Brendel take her to New York to live with relatives. Complications ensue when Bren- del generously buys a bankrupt cafe from a friend, and the story then concerns itself with the prob- lems of the three comrades in mak- ing the business pay.
