Juneau, April 4 -Sunrise, 5:18 a.m.; sunset, WEATHER SYNOPSIS Low barometric pressure continued this morning over the north- eastern portion of the North Pacific Ocean and over the southern Ber- ing Sea region, the lowest reported pressure being 2940 inches over the Pacific Ocean at latitude 44 degrees and longitude 144 degrees. High pressure prevailed over northwestern Canada, the crest being 30.50 inches at Fort Smith. This general pressure distribution has been attended by light precipitation from Southeast Alaska southward to San Francisco and over the northern portion of the Gulf of Alaska and by generally fair weather over the remainder of the field of observation. Relatively warm weather prevailed over the interior of Alaska yes- terday, the highest reported temper ature be ing 56 degrees at Fairbanks. -z Apple Pionger's Home Discovered 6:49 p.m, Wesley Ruggles and Young Claude Binyon. A team of writers—Morrie Ryskind and Anthony Veiller— worked on the hit “Stage Door” but even there the director was a fac- tor. Gregory LaCava's hand fi ures in all the scripts he directs. Tay Garnett gets the team of Gene Towne and Graham Baker to work for him whenever possible, as recently on “Joy of Living.” But the oddest director-writer combin- ation is Edmound Goulding and Edmund Goulding. He likes to di- rect his own scripts. For economy and speed the di- rector-writer approach to a script is unbeatable. The two can estab= lish an understanding of what each wants first thing—and they don't go into production with a “story place of a man to whom all apple growers owe their start—Johnny B born Chapman — has scovered in Leominster, 5 according to Henry Bailey Stevens of the New Hampshire Ex- tension Service. Chapman, who left his home as a young man, traveled through the new west, carrying a bag of apple seed, which he planted as he wan- dered about the ‘countryside. Follow ON YOUR REGISTRATION! .
