S, VICTORIA HERE FROM LYNN CANAL Steamer Brings Passengers and Mail Here for Northwestern After transferring ten passengers from Skagway and Haines to the southbound steamer Northwestern off the lower end of Douglas Isl- and yesterday afternoon, the steam- er Victoria, Capt. H. Odsen, com- mander, and J. L. McNamee, purs- er, brought mail and passengers for this port from the Lynn Canal cities into Juneau. It docked here at 4 oclock and pulled out five minutes ‘later, bound for the west- ward. The transfer of passengers was easily accomplished when the Northwestern = drew alongside the anchored Vietoria and a gangplank was placed between the iwe steam- ers. A few of the more adventur- | ous passengers, who had expected OF FISH YESTERDAY% to be transferred in a cargo net, or some such arrangement,’ were slightly disippointed at the ease with which it was handled, accord- ing to several Juneau-bound Skag- wayites. Joseph Ramsauer, commander, and George Parks, purser, docked at the Stand- ard Oil Company. After unload- ing freight there it meved p to| the Alaska Juneau Mining Com- pany to discharge freight and left at 6 o'clock this morning for Du- | pont. The Nizina left Dupont shortly | after noon today and will stop at | Tenakee before continuing to the westward. It is due here south- bound about March 24. Included in the cargo aboard the Nizina for the westward are five steel gondola cars for the Alaska Railroad, all of which were built in 'raooma. w-shmgwn ESTEBETH OFF ON SITKA RUN LAST EVENING At 6 o'clock last evehing the motorship Estebeth, Capt. Edward Bach and David Ramsey purser, left port on its weekly mail, freight and passenger run to Sitka and way points. Those who left here on the Es- tebeth were, for Tenakee, Dan Moler and J. E. The Mabell J. brought in 1,700 pounds of halibut, selling for 19 and 15% cents a pound; 2,000 pounds of ling cod, selling at 5 cents; Valero with 1300 pounds of halibut, selling for 19 and 16 cents a pound.
