THE DAILY ALASKA EMPIRE “ALL THE NEWS ALL THE TIME” VOL. XLL, NO. 6214. n ~ JUNEAU, ALASKA, SUNDAY, DECEMBER 18, 1932. THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMA TODAY HE Spirit of Christmas is here again. It brings with it the custom of giving gifts, a custom that is as old as the holiday, a custom that gives ourselves and others pleas- ure. It holds the true meaning of good will to- ward men. Today, that spirit gains an added impetus, for today your dollar goes further than it ever went at Christmas time in a great many years. Today, the merchants are offering you excellent quality in every branch of merchan- dise, at prices that have never been so low. To- day, buying is made easy for you and for your pocketbook. You have only to read the adver- tisements appearing in The Empire to be forc- ibly reminded of the new low cost of living. Cer- tainly this new economic era invites buying--- urges increased holiday purchasing, which in- cludes the buying of gifts. This year your Christmas shopping list can be as long as you feel it ought to be, and everyone will be includ- ed, at less expense on your part. Part of the great Spirit of Christmas, this year, includes the spirit of buying, in proportion to your yearly income, which in itself will do much to spread that feeling of “Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.” __ MEMBER OF ASSOCIATED PRESS SECOND SECTION
