Alaskans in all parts of the Ter- ritory have been requested tosend in names that might be suitable for the vessel and a flood of sugges- tions have been received. They come from: many towns and villages on the far-flung Alaskan coast from Ketchikan to the rim of the Arc- tic. Some Suggestions Some of the names follow: Barrow, after Point Barrow in the Arctic, the farthest north village the new ship will serve; suggested by E. K. Burlew, administrative assistant to the Secretary of the Interior. Quenanna, which means “thanks for the service rendered,” in the Eskimo language. Tkayoon, an Eskimo word which means helper, or “made for serv- ice.” Other Names Other names suggested are: Au- rora, Midnight Sun, Dawn, Wel- come, Chaumai, meaning greeting in the Eskimo tongue; Boxer No. 2, Northern Star, Walrus, Lights, Ice King, Relief and In- trepid. The Melntosh and Seymour Cor- poration has advised representa- tives of the Department of the In- terior in Seattle that the 1500- horsepower Diesel engine, built for the new vessel has been shipped from Auburn, N. Y, and should arrive in Seattle between January 5 and 10. The date has not been set for the launching, but it is planned to send the new vessel down the ways ebout the middle of January. A sponsor is to be se- lected by the Department of the Interior. Officers of the Depart- ment from Washington, D. C., will take part in the ceremonies. ——————— -—— 0 | TIDES TOMORROW | PO High tide, 0./01 a. m., 136 feet Low tide, 5:33 @. m., 51 feet High tide, 11:28 p. m., 16.8 feet Low tide, 6:16 p. m., —0.9 feet Oberhaul JOB \ Come in and see us about our SPECIAL WINTER MONTH OVERHAUL PRICES CONNORS MOTOR CO., Ine.
