Her's a Heart That Questioned Not From | CAPITOL HAS NEW PLAY WITH HOLT AND ASTOR “White Sho—lfi;rs" Reveals Lives of Playboys and Playgirls “White Shoulders,” which. begins showing tonight at the Capitol theatre, may be likened to an x-ray that is turned on playboys and playgirls. The world ana its gay places are presented in a giddy array to the slums; from the cabarets of Paris to the gambling salons of Monte Carlo; from the honeymoon gsuites of palatial liners to the blue | skies of Spain and Italy. Lives of Stage Beauties The picture gives insights into the lives of stage beauties and of their wealthy admirers. “White Shoulders” was written by Rex Beach. The character of “Gordon Kent,” played by Jack Holt, is one of Beach's typical two- fisted males. Kent, after establishing himself as Gotham’'s prize playboy, sud- | denly marries the beautiful chor- | ine, Norma Selbee, played by Mary Astor, the romance beginning with an episode new to the screen. “Marry me,” Kent pleads. “But I do not love you,” pro- | tests Norma. Urges Impulsive Marriage “Fine,” Kent replies. “Think of the love marriages that have gone on the rocks. Let’s make ours an impulsive one.” Kent, however, failed to reckon with the immensity of his love, and when a third man appears on the scene a tense drama emerges. Y. Dec. 22— Heavy sets and a climactic little slam involving elimination and brilliant end play were largely re- sponsible for Ely Culbertson’s team winning the tenth session of the 150-rubber contract bridge mara- thon, and carrying its lead to 11,- 120 over Sidney Lenz and Oswald Jacoby. Culbertson and a new partner, his third of the series, Waldemar Von Zedtwitz, emerged 3,025 points ahead in last night's play. They won four out of the six rubbers, making the rubbers stand 38 for Culbertson and 31 for Lenz. The series lead of 11,120 attained by Culbertson’s team is 4,090 points greater than the plus run up by Lenz and Jacoby in the earlier sessions. Never has Culbertson been so enthusiastic about the merits of his force bid system. Lenz had very little to say, except that the losses were largely due to his own mistakes. fifty minutes of climax.
