Both arc Indians. Jackson, the object of Shortridge’s attack, is said to be an invalid, so badly crippled that he is confined to a wheel chair. He was in this at the time he was assailed by Shortridge. Two other prisoners for the lo- cal jail arrived here on the Ad- miral Rogers this week from Sitka. Deputy Marshal William Schnabel brought over Willle John and Mrs. Willie John, both convicted of vio- |lating the Alaska Bone Dry law, and the man also bound over to the grand jury on a charge of rape. On the liquor charge he was sentenced to pay a fine of $300 and to serve |five months in jail. Mrs. John .|was fined $125 and sentenced ‘0 |serve three months in jail.
