They then went to New York for several days. They stopped off a day in Pitl urgh, where Mr. Stewart visited the Mine Rescue station of the Bureau of Mines. Coming west, the Stewarts visit a day in Chicago and then proceed- ed direct to San Francisco. There Mr. Stewart attended the meeting of the American Institute of Min- ing Engineers, October 7-8 and 9. From there they went to Portland and thence to Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart saw many Alaskans on their trip. They had an enjoyable visit with ex-Gov. Thomas Riggs in New York. He asked to be remembered to all his Alaska friends. In Kansas City they saw J. J. Delahide, former Mine Rescue instructor in Alaska. They met F. W.
