SECTION MOOSE SWAMP ELKS SUNDAY Earn Right to Play Bills in Little World Series by 16 to 2 Win runs, 13 of which came in three successive innings, the Moose ball players swamped the Elks 16 to 2 in a nine-inning game yesterday afternoon and won the championship of the sec- ond half and the right to play the Bills for the 1928 pennant. Although Pete Schmitz was nick- ed for ten hits, he pitched gooa ball, especially in the pinches, and struck out 12 men. In the first he did well, for he fanned three with the bases full. Thtee heavers were used by the Elks, but Koski was the only one who could hold the Paps in check, and he allowed only one hit in the last three innings. The Elk chuek- ers had poor support and ten bon- ers were marked against the team Little heavy hitting was done, there being two doubles, a triple and a freak homer. The latter came when Gist slammed. the ap- ple into rightfield aund-it bounced over the fence for the circuit. Moose Score First The Moose made tltree in the first, when the Elks players had their worst inning. Two hits, with four errors, were good for three runs. The Elks came back in the second and scored twice when four successive batters hit safely, after two men had been retired. Nothing happene& after that un- the fourth canto,~when The Moose batted around, hit five times and scored five rums with a little aid from the Bills. Again in the following frame they mark- ed up four runs on four hits and one error. The same number of runs came in the sixth on three hits and no errors. Those four big innings were far too much for the Bills, who were not hitting any too well due to Mr. Schmitz’ worthy efforts. Lineups and Summary MOOSE— AB R H PO B. Schmitz, 1f".... F. Schmitz, 2b.
