The Elks will probably start Bernhofer on the mound with | Coughlin receiving while the i will ‘probably use Mosher as c¢hoice with Barragar doing the catch- ing. Much interest will be taken in the game tonight as a win for the Plks will make it possible for three teams to tie for first place and! probably for the American Legion to | finish in a tie with the other two teams. The [game will be called promptly | at 6:30 as the cloudy day will hinder | the teams from playing late. Both teams are given an even hreak t win. The Miners have the better h ting team but hava not proven strong as the Elks in the infield although with the absence of Me- Allister from the Elks, conditions will be more even. Bernhofer will have, the edge on Mosher on the mound the former having more experience better control, and knowing the bat ters better. Mosher has 'turned in some nice innings this season and is liable to baffle the Elks with his fast ones and his sharp breaking curves. Umpires Kirk and Gray will handle the game. - ewee NORMAN COOK HELPS TO BUILD LOG CABIN Norman Cook, Deputy in the U. S District Clerk’s office, is back on the job after a month’s vacation, which was spent with his father building a log house on the shore near Lena Cove. Mr. Cook and his father started work on Easter Sunday, and now the cabin is practically completed with the exception of the interios work and finishing. It is entirely built of logs, will have a large living room with a fireplace and small kitchen, with some bunks in the at- tic, the windows are large so that the gorgeous view of mountains and water will be seen from any place in the cabin. CHUCK HELLMAN COMING BANTAM NEW YORK, June 7. — Chuck Hellman, of Portland, bantamweight battler, made his debut last night in a flashy 10-round decision ove: Corporal Izzy Schwartz, of New York. e NO WINTER GOLF CHICAGO, June 7.—A golfer would have to play a course a day from April 1 to August 30 to familiarize himself with Chicago’s golf links. There are 152 courses in and around the city, used, it is estimated, by 300,000 golfers. Golf as a spectacle is almost a com- plete flop in France. A solitary spectator composed the ‘gallery” during part of the finals for the French amateur champion- ship, played recently at La Boulie. The day was one of perfect weather, he course a convenient one to Paris, and the players the best this country has produced as amateurs, A. Vag- liano and Andre Gobert. The championship entries were ro stricted to players of French nation ality. Their countrymen, however, showed little interest in them. The one-man gallery was 100 per cent American. ROGM FOR 100,000 AT OUTDOOR BOXING CHICAGO, June 7.—Boxing promo- ters who get Comiskey Park, en- larged home of the' Chicago White Sox, for their outdoor fistic shows will be able to accommodate almost 100,000 persons. The stands and bleachers contain room for 70,000 with all space used, and engineers estimate that close to 30,000 seats could be put around the ring inside the playing field. Fans hope the arena will entice some major matches to Chicago. ——— Artificial floral pieces order. Mrs. H. V. Sully.
