The Dullest Loan Market Known for Six Months. The Sales of the Week Few and Unimportant. ¥he Sale of the Dore Block Fails to Be Consummated. New Subdivisions---Suburban - Transfers---Miscellane- ous. . THE LOAN MAREKET. SEMI-ANNUAYL DULLNESS. “The past week has becn the dullest kxown for six months past. The offers of money at low rates do not bring out the necessary demand, ‘and it seems now that capital will have to look for some other invesiments than mortgages. There has been an evident tendency for some time past to place money in stocks, bonds, and securitics of that ré:muc, and this tendency I8 stronger. gmGo':l:lg mhoa%c stocks, county snd State bonds, #re in demand, and in connection with Govern- ment securities are gradually deplettng the loan market. The temptation to capital to engagein -other lines of business with the hopes of a more considerable return is one of the protatle fea- tares of the near future. The instruments filed for r ‘have been few in number end upimportant in amount. ‘Actual loans have formed a very small propor- tion of the aggregate. To securs part purchase money of property, trust-deeds have been filed zovering the Covell farm zmounting to over $35,000. To sccure commerclal indebtedness one instrument figures at $25,000, covering & acres of land in Ottaws, Jli. Very fow louns have been negotiated emounting to 10,000 pach. Evanston property secured one of those Yums, on three years' time at 10 per cent, and g Exed of land at or near the intersection of uben street and the river secured another ng,mo on five years' time at 8 per cent. badiah Huse has given a mortg;%otofl:e remen’s wn four lots at Rogers' Park to secure a noto of pew insurance company calied the ntmo due in five years st § per cent interest. lios R. Bowen also figures as a mortgagor to e same company, giving as security Lots 58 Grove Additlon, to insure the Ih and 59, Cottage Grove Ac fl:ymenz of a note for $3,000, five years' time, tercst 8 per cent. ‘COMPABATIVE STATEMENT FUR TIIE WEER EXDING MAY 20, 1870, 18%.
