The advent of bright, sunny weather has been hailed with peculiar eatisfaction by the turfmen at Dexter Park, who have been seriously hindered by the backward epring in training and working their* horses, in preparation for tha July meet- mg Now the business of gethng ready will be- gin in earnest, and the ensuing month will 'be a lively one. The same brightened condition of things enables the Dexter Park Association to proceed with many important improvements on the track and appuriénances. The runningcourse is being straightened, widened, and graded, so that " it may be drainéd " ‘as aflactnally a8 the trotting track, -which is now in' fine order, being considered much * faster” and better.than ever before. A mnew stand for the Judges and reporterais to be constructed. It will be placed about 100 feet south of the pres- ent stand, thus giving longer stretch for the send-off before the first turn is reached. This will be of great value in getting away after the word s given: A conaiderable :portion of ‘the southern end of tho grand stend is to be ‘met apart for the occupancy of ladies. It will be comfortably fitted up, aund, in connection . with the other stand Jand. the club-house_ balconies, will afford most eligible and - atiractive ac- commodations for ‘the .fair ser.. The pool . stands are. to. be. -wholl Temoyed from the quarter. stretch, and place either at the north .end or in the rear of the fi:md stand—anywhere, 80 that the selling may conducted privately, and not obtain the® of- fensive prominence that it has hitherto enjoyed. All thesa improvements, and many others of ‘minor importance, are most excellent, and will tend greatly to enhance the comfort-and un]gfi ment of tke patrons of the races.” They sho ot stop hare, however. Inasmuch as the com- . pleto success of the July meeting is aasured be- yond peradventure, the Clnb should see to it that extrs accommodations are provided for spectators. Ten thousand people can be taken care of very well with the present facili- ties, but in case - 20,000 &hould assemble on any one occasion,—and it is more than prob- able that uwlttundmoe will reach that figure during the races,—it is difficult to imagine what would be done with so vast a crowd. Some provision should be made for m% for they ‘will surely be there on one or more days during the maeting. Wo havo said that tho success of the mcoting in nssured beyond peradventure, It is aiready Imown that the attendance of horses from all parts of America will far exceed that of any other meeting ever given at Dexter Park. There will be one hundred race-horaes alone, not to mention the troiters, which are to be here in -| great numbers. The judicions mn taken by the Club with reference to the ty between the Trainers’ and Drivers' and the National As- sociation has secured the yrarmoest-good ill of L\m former, many of whom havé written to Mr. ugmo 0 Becretary; assuring him' flnb they 4 bring their horses to Chicago'if . the w trot them -for nothing. Positively t trotters of America Wi orses will bring the apocnmu, and so the sno- ‘cess of the meeting is a‘fixed fact. 2 3ir. Simpson is daily in receipt of: lotters from turfmen over the Iand, notifyin, ghxm of their intention to enter their horses in the July races, and bespeakin, stable accommodations.’ Among the well-kmowm stsbles which are certamn - to -come, the Bouthern States are repreaentedbyT &. Loring, a boot and shoe dealer at No. 116 West Madison street, whose name was rather unpleasantly connected with *‘an out- rageous aseault™ upon the person of Mr. G. B. Kane, of the ink-making firm of Kane& Co., mentioned in Tre TRIBUNE yesterday, cliims to have been entirely misrepresented. He. “states that in angwer {5 an advertisement he called on Eane, some time ago, for the purpose of ex- changing a watch fora lot. Kane produceda map of the city, and pointed out the streets on which the real estate was situated. Loring went with a friend to take a Jook at the property, and, being satisfled with it, rotarned and com: loted the. ' exchange, Teceiving - from ane & deed.- Supposing that -lnuer was an honest man, he nsglectod to examine the paper until after he returned from an Eastern trip. Then he discovered that the deed was for a valueless lot iz the swamps of Calumet. He immediately songht ot Kane, and demanded a proper exchange, or the return of his watch. Rxna said k-ha exnhln“{a Was cor- rect, and in accordance with the advertisement. I.nn.ng denied this. Eane then called him & liar, and struck him in the face. For this affront Loring whipped him.
