Could Wyoming Care for Tetons? Not unless they should be given to the state by congress, a move un y to be made in view of the fact that Yosemite Valley and the Marl. bosa Grove of Big Trees were con- veyed to Callfornia in 1864, given very little attention by the state for years, and finally because of st of protection and upkeep, re- nveyed to the federal government in 1906 Witt to $400 or les > or three ranches in » amounting perhaps but proba’ much Wyoming would lone nothing. OIL PAINTING FREE ON CHRISTMAS EVE A selection will be made among the names of all the patrons of the BUSH SIGN SERVICE During the year 1925, pr and the lucky person will be ented with a BEAUTIFUL FRAMED OIL PAINTING ~ Bush Sign Service 118 West Midwest Phone 1840 “BUSH DID IT” Territory subject to game control that would be tneluded would be practically Offset by similar terri. tory eliminated from the park in the east and south boundary revision, Hunting and Fishing Fishing is permitted in the park and the park assists the state in stocking streams both east and south of its present boundarles, ‘The park would continue to stock waters out- side of its new lines, and otherwise assist the state in fish propagation. There should be just as much hunt- ing of big game as ever, and per- haps more, because with “natural boundarles for the park, the commis- sion Will have greater freedom in changing hunting areas. There never has been any grazing of Uvestock in the areas proposed for addition to th¥ park, except. in the case of “dude” outfits. A special Provision of the bill providing for this boundary revision will author- {ze the continuance of such graz ing. This 1s also permitted in the Present park, Road and Hotel Development The National Park service ig {n- terested in the preservation of the wilderness character of the Yellow. stone. It has proposed that the law carrying the boundary revision into effect. contain a provision prohibit- ing the construction of any new roads In the territory that would be added tu the park, and likewise, pro- hibiting hotel or permanent camp evelopment except along existing roads. The Tetons are already sufficient ly accessible by roads. The Thorofare and Upper llowstone should never have roads, but should be maintain- ed forever as a wilderness area. Ho- téls and other resorts are already in operation in the Teton region, es- pecially along Jackson Lake. These enterprises are serving present need: of the public, and can be enormous! expanded if necessary. The Lander- Yellowstone Transportation company is capable of furnishing present and future automobile service in the Teé- ton country. The utilities o7 the Present park will not be applicants for a extension of their service beyond the areas affected by their present activities, ‘The national park service will con- tinue to ald, in every practical way, the development of the “dude ranch” business and the use of. trail outfits. This hag been {ts policy for years. Change In Administration ! Only ‘a transfer of control from one federal bureau to another—from forest service to park service in case of the Tetons and Upper Yellow- stone, from park service to forest service in case of lands to be elim- inated from the Yellowstone. Prac- tically every acre of land involved in the transfer Is owned by the United States. Private lands are limited to a few tracts of ranch lands in the Teton region, and they will not be affected by change of jurisdiction. There are thousands of acres of ranch‘ lands in Glacier and Rocky Mountain parks. Wyoming and the Park Yellowstone park in Wyoming, and is its greatest tourist lure. Wyom- ing publicity pamphlets always give Uberal space to the park, and na- tional park service booklets and pamphlets numbering well . over, a million a year, tell of the park and Wyoming. There has always been close co- operation between park and state of- ficers, especially in road and fish planting problems, With park funds roads 28 miles east and 30 miles south of the park were bullt-and are still maintain by the park organiza- tion. The original road over Two- Gwo-Tee Pass was built with park funds. In no other state, but Wy- oming, has park funds eveen author- ized for such broad outside state benefit. There cannot be any cause now or hereafter for Wyoming to feel anything but pride in the fact that Yellowstone as now constituted, or as enlarged as proposed, ts, almost entirely within her borde: Let Lioyd’s mail your Xmas candy. lassified Ads POSITIONS WANTED TWO young men want work of any Kind, 912 N.
