Rehearsals are under way in pre- paration for the dance extravangza to be given’at the Elks’ auditorium on the night of June 10 by the puptis of the Fitzgerald Dancing stu- dio directed by Miss Genevieve Ftiz- gerald and Miss Claribel Butler, for the. benefit of the charity tund of the American Legion. Mary B. Mo- Pake {# chairman of the legion com- mittee in charge of the program. The entire program will be danc- ing to music. The grand climax of the presentation will be the “Ballet of Chitra” in’ which pupils of the Fitzgerald studio personally trained by Miss Fitzgerald, will appear. When one’ comes to attempt to n idea of the Ballet of ‘'— a theme suggested by Tagore’s drama, a lovely, dreaming, colorful, eastern theme— one feels the Mmitations of the written word. The first scene reveals Chitra, the daughter of; the kingly house of Manipur, among her comrades— a pure devotee of the sword and bow untouched as yet by passion, which only awakens when Arjuna, to whom she had been affianced in hood, comes upon the scene. Scene two is laid in the temple at the hour of worship. The temple maidens are engaged in the weird solemn and beautiful incenge-dance when Chitra appears to pray *the God of Love to teach her Cupid's archery— tot give her the power of the weak weapon ‘of the un- armed hand.” She therefore pleads for one day of perfect beauty to win the heart of Arjuna. Scene three portrays Arjuna yield- ing to the love wiles of the mald— now all woman, the melting fem!- nine thing appealing to the senses, but he soon tires of this, feeling his manhood unchallenged to higher things and departs to take up the duties that call him. Scene four sees the deserted Chitra in the old boyish costume in which Arjuna had first seen her,» again entering the temple, where she is rejoined by Arjuna, who now recog- nizes her as the daughter of the king—the comrade he has long sought who shall share the great du- ties of his life. eniid- PERSONAL MENTION OF CASPER ' PEOPLE AND GUESTS IN CITY Harry Fox of Cheyenne arrived in Casper Friday evening.
