To new sedan models, of striking beauty in design and unusual rich- ness in all their appointments, have been brought out by Chandler. They are the Chummy Sedan, the distine- tive Chandler two-loor model that combines the advantages of the five- passenger sedan and the fotr-pas- senger coupe, and the Metropolitan Sedan de Luxe, both of them glort- fied models or cars that have long been leaders in the Chandler line. Both models are equipped with a new type windshield, described as the greatest single advance ever made in closed car comfort and con- venience. This windshield is abso- lutely full-vision, being without di- visions or rubber strips, yet gives a far wider range of ventilation than ever was available before. The en- tire windshfeld is a single plate of glass arranged, in felt lined grooves, that jt may be raised vertically by means of a regulation window crank. Every operation of .raising or low- ering may be performed by the driv- ef while the cfr {6 In full motion. The new bodies, while distinctively Chandler in appearance, are a strik- ing departure from previous sedans of the same make. Both are much lower, giving the appearance of great length, an effect that is height- ened by the new double belt of moulding, the lower bead running the full length of the car. At the rear the tops are beautifully round- ed, giving a brougham effect, and a new type leather-covered visor makes a marked improvement at the front. The interiors are as greatly in ad vance of the previous models ag are the exteriors. The window mould- ings are of circassinn walnut, and thé instrument board and full-width match. The seats have been made ventilator are panelled in walnut to deeper, and are covered with high grade Mohair plush in a beautiful gray with carpet to match. The in, terior hardware is a combination of silvet in dull and bright finish, new in design. The motorist will be: particularly impressed with the advantages of the new windshield, as it is the first design that does away with the in- conveniences of adjustment and reg- ulation, Usually requiring the driver to step and even leave his seat. << She Knew All The Time He Would Buy It BY SPARG PLUG. Carbon Monoxide Is Suffocating bon monoxide is not a poison in the @éneral accepted sense of the word but it gets in Its deadly work by suffocation. As Indicated by ite name, carbon mohoxide is a sort of transitory stage between straight carbon and carbon diovide, and as a result it has a grent affinity for ad. ditional oxygen Which it absorbs tn changing from carbon monoxide to carbon diovide. We would also be greatly alarmed {f we, for a moment, be: lieved that the State Highway Com- mission would be moved by your editorial to act along the lines sug: gested, We are well aware that for the past two years strenuous efforts have been put forth by a group of men to have the State Highway com mission abandon the present road following the Yellowstone Highwa with its grade equal to that of the Railroad along side, its fr from drifting snow, and ide uated to carry the heavy industrial, warehouse and through traffic. They would have the Highway Commis- sion abandon this route for the so- called scenic route out Second street with its bad grades and ter snow trouble. They would make all the people on the north side of the Northwestern track suffer severely in order that a paved road might be built through certain undeveloped subdivisions east of Casper and that the Texas Refinery would be caused less expense in its development. The effort to take the Yellowstone Highway away from us started some two years ago ‘and since the start of that propoganda, we, who’ have business interests that would be damaged, have become vitally in- terested and from time to time have become alarmed at what the tonse- quences would be for us if the change should be made. Various interested citizens ‘n this section have visited the Commission to see if the promoters wefe likely to be able to carry out a plan that would be so detrimental to our Interests. Upon Investigation we found that the highway commission had studled the situation very carefully and had reached the conclusion that a State Highway could best serve the traffic and the public to follow approxt- mately the old location of the Ye — 2 ies why Hudson and all rivals. We find that they had In mind a subway under the Chicago and Northwestern railroad a short dis- tance west of the Stroud crossing, this subway to be built when f.nahe- es and increase in traffic warranted such an expense. ‘This is the only feasible plan to eliminate a grade crossing for the Yellowstone High. All traffic going to the Texas Refinery or Evansville originating south of the tracks must cross the Northwestern Whether it goes out Second street out the present Yellowstone We mainta'n that it is less antkercans for the through trag+ fic to cross the Stroud crossing where clear vision can be had each way, than it ts to add to the con- sgestion on Setond street and ‘cross in town. The Yellowstone Highway traffic with its 1,700 ve- hicles each 24 hours turned onto Second street where it will meet the refinery traffié from the west would add to the congestion already exis. tant and would cause more accidents: than could possibly occur by having the Yellowstone traffic cross the grade crossing at Stroud’s. We in- terpose no objection to your building your scenic route, ff you will do so, but do not attempt to take the Yellowstone highway from us. The only possible point of virtue the East Second street road could have, since it. plainly does not eliminate any grade crossing, would be as an addl- tional artery of traffic into the city, which is, no doubt, desirable as the population increase In too many cases, the streets and roads have been closed and lanes of traffic shifted to make it conven- jent for some corporation regardless of the fact that the changes have made it inconvenient and expensive for the general public. A portion of the CY road, one of our main traf- fic lanes into the city, has been aban- doned in order to make a square sub-division for the Standard Of company in their Standard addition. The long travelled Yellowstone hig! way along the Northwestern stock yards near our east city mits was abandoned and the heavy traffic thrown around two right angle turns onto “C" street, which is only 60 feet wide. We do not believe that roads should be closed when they are properly located and moved to some other location whenever some corporation or group of Individuals crack the whip, The East Second street road would not eliminate grade crossings for any considerable number of people and to abandon the Yellowstone highway east of Evansville would do away with all possibility of ever eliminating the grade crossing for through traffic, You mention East Second street route as being important from a scenic standpoint, As far as we @re concerned, the best scenery we can see is the warehouse business and industrial activity between the raflroad tracks which is now served 80 woll by the Yellowstone highway, While passing these warehouses and industries may be distasteful to some people, we believe to the aver- age Wyoming citizen, this activity is good for their eyes and health.
