i | P. ay Given Place of Henor in ageantry of Tulsa Oil Exposition i NTERNATIO! PETROLEUM EXPOSITION Re October 2 toll,1924.. oe ‘TULSA, Okla., Sept. 7.—(Special to the Tribune).—As the center of the old Indian territory, which now comprises Oklahoma, has ylelded vast wealth to its Indian owners through the discovery of oil, the Indian is an outstanding figure in the pageantry that will take place during the International Petroleum exposition in Tulsa, October 2 to 11, as well as of the exposition itself. In the “Pageant of Princesses which the beauties from the v oll producing states will partic the Oklahoma Princess’ float will be decorated to typify the native land of the Indian. ¢ E will form a part of the wrt | float’s . ration, while the canopy will be sug 's ¢ gestive of a teepee. In the parade there will also be an Indian float entitled ‘The Great Spirit," on which will ride several Indian beau- ties, accompanied by outriders on Indian paint pontes. Throughout the decorations and advertising for the exposition the Indian motif also predominates, an Indian chief with his hand out- stretched in token of welcome being central figure in a handsome poster recently designd by Herbert Barnard, likewise designer of the floats. ‘The poster, in which great of red and blue prédominate, distributed throughout the oll territories of the United States ar well as foreign lands. FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN OMALL BUILDING = ON J, B.
