HELENE CHADWICK HAD HARD TIME WITH HAIR If any girl ts thinking of having her hair bobbed because it will be less trouble to take care of, let her consider the experience of Helene Chadwick when she was playing the leading role in ‘Love of Women,” which opens tomorrow at the America. Miss Chadwick portrayed a young and attractive wife, whose husband is successfully vamped by another woman. Feeling that the audience might say that the hus- band strayed because his wife was dowdy, Miss Chadwick determined to keep herself spic and span through every scene. Consequerttly every day an expert and high-priced hairdress- er arrived at the Whitman Bennett studio to curl, trim and generally arrange Miss Chadwick's bob. Miss Thurman, who had a,Dutch bob, had a much easier time, as all she had to do was to brush her hair and all was well —_—. “TIGER LOVE” PLAYING TO CROWDS AT RIALTO “Tiger Love,” a new Paramount Picture, directed by George Melford and featuring Antonio Moreno and Estelle Taylor, was shown for the first time in Casper at the Rialto theater last night. If the White Sox had given them a battle, they would not have done so well, for Chicago lost the only series that New York won on the trip. St. ‘Louls thumped the champions to the extent of three to one and Cleve- land and Detroit held them even. If Detroit had done anything, the ‘Tigers might be coiled upon the top shelf of their league by this time. But they could only take half the series, which was not good baseball for a team that has championship aspirations. ‘While New York was in the west on_the last two trips, the team was knocked out of first places They fought back, but conditions were all in their favor as Detroit failed to hold jts own and then came the bat- tle both east and west between De- troit and Washington, which was dis- tinctively to the advantage of New York. Cobb figures that the Yanks are not likely to be any beter on their last western trip than they were on their second, which was only a fif- ty-fifty affgir, and their first, which was still worse. He also reckons upon more of a fight than the west has put up so far. If the Yanks are staggering when they slip into the home stretch, Cobb says, Cleve- land, Detroit, Chicago and St. Louls will give them the worst battle the league has seen since the year Cleve- land almost won the pennant, but didn't Tradition !s on Cobb's side. There have been some mighty fine finishes to baseball races between the east and the west. Last season Detroit put on a fine finish and jammed its Way into second place over Cleve- land by three. points. If Detroit can give battle like that this year the Yanks may find them an acid test when they go out that way again. For Cobb has not given up the idea that he can bring his team through. They told him last August that he would finish fourth, but he didn't. And he feels the same way about this year, does the indomitable leader of the Tigers. Cobb will not concede that Wash- ington or New York can beat him for the pennant, despite the fact ———— that Washington has threshed him 13-6 on the season’s series. “That does not tell everythin: he argues. “Look at thé Giants. They lose the series to Pittsburgh. But they haven't lost the pennant—yet.” —<—$<—<$—<—$—<—__—— Bluejacket Outpitched By Blodgett and Locals Lose 5 to 2 “DENVER, Colo., Aug. 25.— The Casper all stars came out on the small end of the score yesterday in their first engagement’ during the Denver baseball] tournament when the Cheyenne Indians defeated them 5 to 2.
