The trio was wading in the reser- voir, which quite ‘ow at the present time and are believed to have step- ped into a deep hole near the outlet stream: of the reservoir. The boys were unable to swim and sank al- most immediately when they stepped into the hole. A number of boys about their own ages were wading in the reservoir with them at the time of the drown ing ‘and saw the boys grop from sight. Unable to swim, the other boys hastily summoned afd of noighber: ing farmers who recovered the bod- les short thereafter. Pulmoters were rushed from Greeley but the boys had been in the water too long to be resuscitated, 4. hundred years ago a woman was Incomplete without her sun- shade as the modern girl without her powder-puff. It is.an agesold problem, which many religions have tried to answer. Catholic and Protestant theologians have puzzled ‘long over it. Most of us have been brought up to believe that God, a kind loving Pather, is.all powerful and rules, the unfverse. > But }if He is such a God why does he ‘send floods and dis- asters and wars and disease to tor- ment -us “humans? Those believeing this, defend thelr position by stating that this is a mystery which will be xplained to usin heaven; that God *« just and fhe righteous will be rewarded there. But many thinking people now be- lieve that God is’ Hmited in power; that he hates war and famine and| our stferings just as we do; and that he is working thru us to cre- ate a better world. They feel that God is trying to get men to co-oper- tae with him; They think that wars and slavery are not fore-ordained by God to crielly punish mankind, but rather can be avoided just as soon af man knows how to prevent them. To them, ignorance is evil, as it was to Plato some years ago in Greece. Is there any solution to the prob- lem? “And what stand can we as open-minded Christians take upon this issue? The discussion will cen- ter upon this subject on Sunday morning.
