INCE OFFERS PICTURE OF EXCEPTIONAL VIGOR John Barleycorn may be officially dead, but his ghost is lively enough to have reached the screen and in- spired the filming of Thomas H. Ince's bewerful new drama. ‘Those Who Dance,” a First National re- lease which opens at the America theater today. Ince has told the story of Mquor in his new production, and told it with a dramatic sweep of action and vigor of presentation that makes one wonder why some one, long ago, didn’t have the courage to captalize upon some of the dramatic incidents which have become daily occurrences since the Volstead act went into ef- fect and a prohibition force was or- ganized to enforce it. The fact that Blanche Sweet, Bes- sie Love, Warner Baxter, Mathew Betz, Robert Agnew, Lucille Ricksen and Lydia Knott are included in the cast, which was directed by Lambert Hillyer, would assure “fan” interest even for an inferior screen vehicle. With, the remarkable story which the producer has butlt’ upon the foundation of George Kibbe Turner’s magazine yarn, the production de- serves mention among the foremost of the season. JUGGLING AGT HEADS PROGRAM AT COLUMBIA The juggling ect put on by Ethel and Wald Shattuck under the cap- tion of “The Flower Shop” at the ‘columbia theater is an entertainment ‘ell worth seeing, Both of these clever artists, are capable exponents of thef t and elther might make an act, Together they work in har mony and produce something of high excellence. Hal and Ida Birch show their obvious versatility in the musical numbers they give. The lady plays a fife and the gentleman uses both the harp and the banjo. His banjo work is full of pep and includes in- terpretations of the work ‘of others. ‘The Indy also sings a bit and to- gether they present a very striking number. The readings given by the Kuhn Sisters, one at the piano and the other indulging in a constant and ex- tremely funny line of chatter, were “ca well received by the audiences last night. The ladies possess not only & sense of humor but personalities and good voices, Entir nic is the patter of Len- nie and Dale, The man portrays a Jewish character and does it a little better than it is usually done. “The Westbound Limited” is the feature photo} “BRIZONA EXPRESS” 15 AN HONEST MELODRAMA If you want thrills—the good old fashioned'kind of pulse quickeners that you used to enjoy when you Were a kid—go to the Iris theater where Lin matic me pres It is melo- ar the greatest m xpreasion for this type of entertainment since the ola Greek masters made it famous, rter is the uncrowned King of rama and certainly he has em ployed his vivid imagination with ex- cellent effect in this William Fox production. SPIRIT OF SOUTH SEAS IN WYOMING PHOTOPLAY Rex Ingres magnifice and exoti in his Wh is be m has captured, in a fashion the romantic spirit of the South atest production for M he Pavement Ends," which ng shown for the last times at the Wyoming. It is ‘an extraordinary photoplay tn every detail—beautiful in coneeption and execution. It ts not like anything Mr. Ingram has ever done and it marks another high finesse. This production is certainly off the beaten track, in visual appeal ab well as in story.
