PAGE FOUR. AM TULLY’S PRODUCTION OF “TRILBY” 1S FINE The sisaifcance of Du Maurler’s “Trilby* as one of the greatest ro- mances ef all time prompted keen anticipation on the part of this re- viewer, when it was made known that Richard Walton Tully, himself perhaps the foremost of our con- temporary playwright-producers, had dedicated himself to the task of im- mortalizihg it on the screen as a First National attraction Thus it was that we visited the America theater prepared to witness a mas- tery production. We were not disappointed. Almost at the outset we realized that “Trilby” had been brought to life, its fascinating characters made real. A Trilby adorable in form and fea ture, adorable in the odd contradic tions of her nature, stood before us. A Bvengali who coincided with our mental image, that sinister vaga- bond musician-mesmerist, long since deftly planted in memory by Du Maurier’s word paintings, wove his spells—not only on the heroine, we opine, but on spectators as well Here is finished artistry. A “Little Wiilee” whose gensitiveness vibrated from the screen; a bluff Taffy, a lovable Laird—and so it goes through the gamut of characters— realism! ———_——— ELINOR GLYN PREDICTS NEUTER SEX IN WORLD That a “neuter sex” is being de- veloped by the modern ways of liv- ing is the contention of Elinor Glyn, authoress, who became world-famous by writing “Three Weeks,” the film version of which, directed for Gold- wyn hy Alan Crosland, is coming to the Rialto theater. The entrance of modern women into business and their consequent departure from marriage and its duties, will, in time, develop a sex neither male nor female, Mrs. Glyn believes. “Women, one hundred years ago never dreamed that women of today ‘would have so advanced their inde- pendence and freedom.” Mrs, Glyn declares. “And the woman of today eannct imagine the woman of a few centuries ftom now. The woman in business, who earng her own living, and is-extirely apart from man, is changing the whole plan of sex. That sort of woman is ever increasing, and evolution in time will develop a third sex.” ORIGINAL AND AMUSING ROLE FOR THIS PLAYER ©ne of the season’s most original amusing characters is Ola, the id in “What Fools Men A Pyramid picthre directed by Yerwilliger which is announced at the Iris theater for the last times tolay, Eugene Walter, the distinguished playwright, created her and she {s acted by the vivacious Lucy Fox. Ola is quite different from any mere film maid in a wealthy house hold. She has character. Any thing but an automaton, she makes herself a principal character in this absorbing comedy-drama of life as CARNIVAL DANCE TONIGHT Everything Free That Helps You Enjoy a Carnival Hats, Balloons, Serpentine, Confetti, Blow-outs, Parasols, Squawkers, etc. WHERE THE CROWD GOES FOR A GOOD TIME North Washington Hall KEEP RIVERVIEW PARK _Slim Brant and His DeLuxe Entertainers Bathing in the Ramodeled Pool—400 Dressing Rooms FINE !
