_ohe Casper Sunday Tribune _ vi : Theaters-- CASPER, WYO:, SUNDAY, MAY 25, 1924. SECOND NEWS SECTION. NUMBER 44. Advance Notes On Industry Advance Notes On Amusement Offerings For Coming Week ELECTRIC TRAFFIC CONTROL MEANS POLICE ECONOMY Oldfield Now an Automobile Manufacturer —— CASPER MOUNTAIN ROAD OPEN TO MOTORISTS. BUT GOING 15 HARD Hardy Drivers Have Already Reached Top With Passing of Snow and Heavy Traffic May Soon Be Expected. Warm rays of a bright Spring sun and recent heavy rains have effected the disappearance of much of the snow which has covered Casper mountain like a white quilt for the past winter. In removing the snow, Old Sol, has inci- dentally enabled the Casper motorist to reach the top of the mountain. To accomplish this feat right now requires considerable horsepower, traction, and an abundance of that spirit call- ed “nerve.” Nevertheless, it can be done and not a few Casper automo- piles have reached the summit and viewed the home city far below. This. summer, our friendly range should prove a mecca for Casper folks who are obliged to remain in the olty during the week and are al- owed only Sunday for a day of ‘sightseeing and general rest. The establishment of a community park for the use of picnickers and camp- ers should prove an added attraction of the neighboring mountainous ountry. ‘ "The Camper range is filled with in- teresting ‘scenic spots about which we may say the average Casper resi- dent knows nothing. There is, of course, Garden Creek falls with vir gin, restful surroundings -and its lively little flow of water over & ledge some 100 feet in height. Those who have visited it know, of the joy of eating a well prepared lunch in the little canyon at the foot of the falls, Best of all it is easily accessible to within walking distance by auto- mobile, without undue strain upan the motor. Near the summit of the mountain and on the main road itself, lies the mining camp, built entirely of logs, formerly occupied by the men who worked the “old asbestos mine” which made Casper famous im other sections of the country before the scovery of oil. A visit to the old mp will prove a revelation to the newcomer and call to the imagina- tion every form of weird and strange legend in the days when the West was in ‘its infancy. Then of course the visitor to the Casper mountains finds the new Park to be an ideal spot for complete rest, solitude, and comfort. From the top of the ruler of the range it is possible to proceed by automobile to the “old bear trap” and to Eadsville, formerly a little mining town and now occupied by people seeking freedom from the clutches of Tuberculosis. Eadsville offers every sort of surprise to the new visitor. Built entirely of logs, it reminds one of displays seen in department store windows of little log cabin towns in the far far West. There is little opportunity to grow tired or bored while spending a day in the Casper range for every new moment brings some new sight and gives wings to some new thought. One is impressed most of all by the air of stillness and quiet which ‘9s over everything, and which . 1s thoroughly contributive to an at- tack of the work fever find the “Joys” on a Monday morning. If in search of real, honest to goodness scenery, don't stray too far from Casper. You may be disappointed. At any rate see what your home has to offer first. A Futile Hope Don’t Expect Hupmobile Quality in a Car Less Finely Built You know what a marvel the Hupmobile has been— you know its rugged per- formance over long periods —you know the high re- sale value it has always’ commanded, The Hupmobile parts shown in the Parts Display and the processes of manu- facture described, nét only tell why, but they reveal John M. Whisenhunt and Co. First and Park the fallacy of hoping to get Hupmobile qualities in any car less finely built. THE AUTOMOTIVE MELTING POT Conducted by “SPARKPLUG” Gods of wind and weather seem to have gotten together at last, and some semblance of settled fairness prevails. As a result auto dealers are already perking up and record sales have been hung up during the past week in not a few of the agencies. Shall we call it a return to youth, or a second childhood. Fully 50 per cent of the local dealers have taken to baseball as a profitable way of spending “spare “time.” Who knows, Casper may develop a candidate or two for the big leagyes. Sparky will, in the near future, complete a census of the gasoline stations now operating in Casper, and at the same time will make the report that four new ones are nearing completion. | Where, oh where, will the customers come from, is the question we are anxi- ously asking ourselves. The Casper Buick company re- ports three deliveries of new Buick cars this week, bribging the total liveries for this month up to 22. ‘The company is proud of the fact that these sales have been made in the past 24 days.
