Ogden opened the dis- cussion at the Casper Literary club Thursday evening on the subject of game-birds, game-animals and game- fishes. He contended that Natrona county should furnish, as fine fish- ing as could be found any place in the United States, He criticized the policy of the government in failing to allow sufficient water to come from the Pathfinder reservoir after ‘rrigation season to cause a continu- ous flow of the river, thus prevent- ing tHe death of many trout, unt! today there are not so many as there were a few years ago. He said that some of the larger game animals could be preserved if some protection be furnished to the feeding ground, among these being elk, deer and moose. The subject brought enthusiastic discussion. The formal paper of the evening was given by Henry’ Perkins, who showed the distinction between the ordinary form of city government as compared with city manager form, which he said was rapidly being adopted by cities over the country. He asserted that the city manager form made for efficiency because it called into city management, men who have qualified for this sort of business and are in fact experts, It tends to take the city’s business af- fairs out of politics and eliminates the continuous changes in city policies, and puts the cities’ business on a par with private business, so far as efficiency is concerned. Carver, proprietor of a stage line between Denver and Idaho Springs died at the general hospital at 8 o'clock this morning from wounds received in a gun fight with a burglar at his home at 1:30 o'clock this morning. Norman Car- ver, son of the slain man, who was With his father at the time of the shooting fired several shots at the burglar, who’ fell to the ground screaming and then managed to en- ter a waiting automobile in which was seated a confederate, before he could be overpowered. The wounded burglar and his companion made thelr escape. Carver was awakened at 1:30 o'clock by the sounding of a burg- lar alarm in his house which is attached to a door on this garage at the rear of his home. Awakening ‘his son, the two mei¥ went to the garage where they surprised the burglar busily engaged in looting the garage of automobile accessories. The burglar, surprised by the two men dropped his loot and immedi- ately opened fire.
