TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 1924, he Casper Daily Cridune ee ; AB. Cy ‘\ i “NAME THE MAN?” LAST | KILLING OF SHEIK TIME TOOAY AT RIALTO For the last times today the Rialto theater will present “Name the Man" which is a film adaptation of “The Master of Man," by Sir Hall Caine. An old theme has been given new significance, new possl- bilities, and a new dramatic power in this story. Audiences a few years ago sobbed over pictures where the young girl was kicked by her stepfather out into the storm although she might be innocent of any wrongdoing. ‘That situation forms only a part of the theme of “Name the Man" and the real thing placed in the balance is a man's character, “Justice is the most sacred thing on earth,” reads the plate on the wall of the court room of the Isle of Man. What shall the judge do when he himself is the one wha ts culpable? Conrad Nagel who plays the part of the judge in this case answers the question, More than a word should be said for Nagel in this production. His portrayal of a man with the highest ideals but with realistic humanness and the customary human failings, is one of the best things he has done. Patsy Ruth Miller and Mae Busch are the leading feminine attractions, “BLACK OXEN” GIVES AlOE TO QNSCUSSION With Frank Lloyd's production of “Black Oxen,” enthusiastically re- ceived by crowded houses at the Iris theater upon the occasion of its opening last night, folks are today engaging in active discussion of the theme of the unusual play-rejuvena- tion. The story of the 58 year old Madame Zatianny, who underwent a glandular treatment and returned to America looking 30 to the sur- prise of her friends, and of the ro- mance which developed when the cynical newspaperman, Lee Claver- ing, saw in the rejuvenated woman his ideal, has been exceptionally well produced by the veteran director, Frank Lloyd. The Atherton novel, fascinatingly written but very dif- ficult to visualize, has been greatly enhanced in the filming and those who iuterpret the many important characters of the play deserve high praise for the spirit of reality which Prevails throught every scene, “BROADWAY BROKE” 10 COME HERE TOMORROW “Broadway Broke,” a picture de- Picting all that the title implies, will come to the Rialto theater tomor- row where it will remain for a three day engagement, It is a story of the theatrical life of New York's Broadway, showing how a star of the first magnitude of a bygone day stages a comeback after everyone close to her has “dubbed” her a “has-been.” Mary Carr has the leading role and 1s supported by a very impressive cast which include Percy Marmont, Maclyn Arbuckle, Macey Harlan, Dore Davidson, Billy Quirk, Gladys Leslie, Henrietta Crosman and Sally Crute. Saluki Hound Very rare is the Saluki, or Per sian gazelle hound—a name which} may suggest a comic-strip dog—y but which really is @ beautiful andt costly animal, The one in the photo was a prize winner at the London Kennel Show, ANNOUNCING The Organization of Casper Painters and Decorators Protective Association Regular Meeting WEDNESDAY EVENING, APRIL 30, 8 P. A little fellow shook his fist in the face of the commanding officer of a French garrison in the Sahara desert and made the threat, believ- ing that the old shelk, who had been killed in @ rald, was his own father. The boy, however, was of white parentage, having been taken captive by Arabs with his mother as an Infant. Grown to manhood, he was the shelk's successor as chieftain of the Arab band, and, seeing an oppor- tunity to carry out his vengeance, he led a raid against the French Post and made Barbara, the com- mander's daughter, a prisoner. But he fell in love with Barbara and so when she was sold at the slave market he was the secret buyer. Then comes the denoue- ment when he learns he is a white man and not an Arab. Bert Lytell plays the leading role of the young shelk, while Claire Windsor portrays Barbara, the heroine, in “A Son of the Sahara,” the First National picture, which will be shown at the America theater Friday and Saturday, ee “IN DUTCH” CLOSES AT WYOMING TONIGHT “In Dutch". which js the tabloid attraction at the Wyoming theater closes there this evening. This question forms the basis of a satire used by Marie Hart and company in their act. In addition to this Miss Hart does some wire rope walk: ing that is excellent.
