SUNDAY, APRIL 27, 1924. AUTO SALES RECORD HERE IS AHEAD OF LAST YEAR: LOCA DEALERS HAVE NO COMPLAINT By SPARK PLUG Days filled with complaints upon business conditions in general by the large majority of our merchants find strange contrast in the daily chant of the automoble dealer which runs in this vein. “Every day in every way—our business is growing better and better.” It's hard to believe, but its true, Bad weather and a persistent “hang over” on the part of “Old Man Win- ter” has had a trifling effect upon motor car sales during the past month, but its effect has been far from damaging. The improvement in sales over last year at this time is large enough to be distinctly noticeable to every automobile rep- resentative. Satisfaction reigns and a reign of satisfaction is all that can be desired in any line of business, Statements such as these have no strength without concrete backing. does not permit quotations from every local automobile dealer, but a few at this time might not be amiss. Despite inclement weather and every adverse condition that might be conceived, the R, N. Van Sant Motor company, enjoying one of its most successful seasons, and our staff of salesmen are averaging a car a day,” is the statement of W. R. Yeilding, sales manager for the local Hudson Essex dealers.” Our used car sales have far exceeded ex- pectations and in view of the general feeling of business laxity prevailing {n our city, we consider ourselves ex-|Chased last week from the ceedingly fortunate.” Lee Doud, president of the Lee Doud Motor company, says. ‘Sales of Paige and Jewett cars are of such magnitude as to necessitate the ar- rival of three or more carloads of new machines in Casper every week. Orders for Spring and Summer de- livery are piling up in a thoroughly gratifying manner, and if early Spring sales are an indication of Summer business, we are confidently expecting a record breaking season. Our used cars remain in stock only a few days after the trade in.” “Five carloads of Chevrolet cars unloaded during the past week, and five more actually in transit, and enough orders to far more than take care of these two shipments, is a slight indication of the volume of business enjoyed by the Nolan Chev- rolet company,” says Jack Nolan, secretary of the Nolan Chevrolet company. Mr. Nolen is thoroughly optomistic, and with the installa- tion of the company in its new build- ing on South David street expects to establish a new record for Chevrolet sales. We might continue to quote local denizens of auto row until the cows come home, and we should hear nothing but optomistic reports. There is every reason to believe that this summer will find no slump In the Casper automobile business, but on the contrary will see far more cars sold in this city than ever be- fore in its history. THE AUTOMOTIVE MELTING POT Conducted by “SPARKPLUG” The Lee Doud Motor Co., and the ball and bat gladiators of the Cas- per Supply Co., will hook up in a terrific csruggle Monday afternoon. May the best team win. Three models of the new Dort Six are on display at the local agency. They are a true treat. Models of the Brougham, Coupe, and Sport Touring occupy the sales- room. At this season of the year, when temperature is so uncertain, it is well to watch your oll closely. <A grade of ofl which might stand up well on one day may wilt and fafl you on a day of radically dif. ferent thermio-reading. He will return to the job in about one week. . Beginning next week, Sparky, through the Melting Pot will or- ganize an automobile dealers’ base- ball Ieaghe which will function throughout the baseball season. ‘Who knows, but that out of the aimless pile of salesmen, dealers, and mechanics will emerge one or two real stars which may be used next year in furthering the Casper League which will operate this year for the first time. The Studebaker Sales and Service Co., will unload a carload of Big Sixes equipped with balloon tires the early part of next week. “Bob” Copsey, Thermopolis branch manager for the Coliseum Motor Do. is spending the week end in Casper on business, Ideal Conditions No. 1.—A paved road all the way to Salt Creek. “Don't speak of it.” M. Mother’s warning to future mo- torists aw yet in their cradles: “Judge Murray's goin’ to get yu, if yu don’t watch out.” Did somebody say that business is rotten in Casper? We can't un derstand a sentiment of this sort when the Wyoming Oldsmobile Co., reportd the sale and delivery of nine new automobiles in one day last week. Eight carloads of automobiles are enroute to the Wyming Oldsmbile Co. Speaks well. The sincere sympathy of Casper’s entire automotive World is extended to the family of William <A. Green, former superintendent of the paint department of the Coliseum Motor Co., who died suddenly on Thursday following a severe hemorrhage which he suffered while at work ~ at the motor company. ‘4 enjoyed an unusually large quaintance and was well liked everyone with whom he came in con- tact. ace by His funeral will be conduct- ed Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
