Many bridges have been washed out in the Big Horn basin country, numerous streams there haying become torrents in a short time. The Belle Fourche river in Crook and Campbell counties is doing great damage to the highway there. The Laramie river at Uva, Wyo., which is a few miles north of Wheatland, cut out an entirely new channel for itself and left the bridge spanning a dry creek. The State Highway department here reports that colder weather and the final melting of the snow on low- er water sheds north and west of here has caused high water in the! streams to recede rapidly. “Considerable damage was done on }) the Casper-Salt Creek road by the floods of the past several days. An unprecedented high water condition prevails in Nine Mile lake. This lake is ordinarily dry or only a small lake. Floods of last fall raised the lake and floods from melting snows the last few days have further rais- ed the water level until it now stands two and a half feet deep over the pavement on the Salt Creek highway for a distance of three-quarters of a mile. As thero {s no outlet to nine mile lake and it is lowered by eva- poration only, unless some way can be devised to lower the level by draining, some time will elapse be- fore the water is low enough to al iow use of the pavement. A detour road will be graded immediately the lake to take care of traf HaTs =» IM GONE | , ON HER f Ms AND SHE WONT cmme A TumBte! 1 MIGHT AS WELL TELL VOU, WALT, THAT THE MAN WHO (S STAYING WITH ME 1S MME.
