Cotton, field investigator for the bureau of animal husbandry arrived in Denver from Washington today to make an inspection and officially determine the cause of the fllness of 76 head of calves which haye been isolated at the Denver Union Stock yards, as suspected victims of the foot and mouth disease. Dr. Cotton orcered to Denver after an em- bargo on outgoing shipments of livestock from the yards had been established by Dr. W. E. Howe, in- spector in charge of the Denver bureau. The calves were isolated last Fri- day and an embargo on outgoing shipments. put into effect when 4 disease, unofficially determined had developed: in a shipment of 68 head from New Mexico. One of the tricken calves died after the em. bargo had been made effective. by it was announced that the shipment of 68 head ha@ been isolated as well.as eight other head from other shipments when the disease become apparent. DENVER, Colo.,-April 8.—Trial of Fred Janssen, confessed slayer of his wife, whose dead body was found in a trunk in Ogden, Utah, on March 15, started today in the West Side criminal court before Judge Clarence J.
