MOKLER With Casper’s numerous theaters, lodges, clubs, radio parties, private anf public dances, and dozens of other ources of amusement, the people of the city have no difficulty in finding a place to be entertained for several hours every night in the week if they do not care to re- main at their own fireside. But @o these kind of entertainments sat- isfy the people, and {sn’t there some thing more in life than being enter- tained? Those who have lived here for thirty years or more look back with some regrets at. the changes that have been made. They were town builders then 2 they ‘“‘builded better than they knew,” but, their time was not wholly occupied with the laudable work of laying out butlaing up the foundations fora city and making it possible for others to come here and gain wealth and live in luxury. There was but one room in this new public building and ft was twenty-five feet wide and seventy- four feet long, and it was commo- dious enough to accommodate all the people of the town for a dance or theater or for any public gathering. The first party given by the newly organized athletic club was on Wash- ington’s birthday In 1891. The first part of the program consisted of an exhibition drill on the horizontal pyramids and tableaux by mem; of the club. The program will end with a sermon Sunday morning March 27, and an illus- trated lecture in the evening. “The City Beautiful” is to be the subject of the sermon bringing out the value of beauty, peace and contentment, The evening lec- ture wil deal with “The Handi- work of God in Nature,” pointing to the effects of the cultivation of flowers and plants, It is probable that a flower show will be sponsored later to demonstrate the results of culti- vating flowers and plants ayitable to the soll and climate of this sec- ton, National Garden week has been endorsed by President Coolidge, the governors of the different states and many civic and commer- cial organizations.
