This sea- son's model usually has a slight break at the hips of shirring, to suggest ai waistline. In many models, however, the shirring is so little that it is hardly noticeable. Two manners of fastening are to be used this year—the side closing with the very large roll collar and the front closing that fastens up to the throat with a narrow neck-band finish. For the roll collars, fox in ail its dyed and natural tones is to be used, while for the throat but- toned coat the short-haired fur is more desirable. Dyed ermine and mink are lovely furs for the front fastening models. Egyptian Effects Are Out. Coats with embroidery and Orien- jtal trimmifigs are shown in many of the smartest shops here. last year, are not being used at all, nor are the horizontal embroidery effects. For dressy occasions the plain black cloth coat trimmed in black fox is about as popular with the fashionable houses in Paris as any other. Brown cloth trimmed in brown fur is also well thought of. Women have grown so tired of the numerous fur coats that they are turning daily to the cloth coat that is fur trimmed, seeking in this way to get more individual garments. Huge plaids in the most brilliant of colors aré made in straight tube- like coat models. One sees them everywhere. Many of them look as though they were home made, so simply are they cut. Yellow and black is*a favorite plaid combina- tion that combines nicely with black fur. When the plaid coat doesn't use fur as ornamentation, it is sure to have a large scarf of the same plaid material which winds carélessly about the neck. Separate scarfs of plaid and homespuns with fringed ends are worn with the winter sports outfit. These are especially suited for skating where one needs @ warm wrap about the throat. Brassieres. In France I found women wearing a type of brassiere that is unknown in the States and as this model seems both a sensible and pretty one. I shall describe it: To begin with the Parisian is usually fitted for the brassiere just as she is for a corset. First comes a bodice that fits snugly about the body, clasping either in front or, in back. Fitted on the front of the bodice are two circular~pieces of material that have been darted férming circles to fit the bust. The bodice underneath these cireular in- sets is cut out. This makes a garment that holds the figure tightly in its normal position. Gowns worn over such a brassiére show the lines of the bust rather than a shapeless bulk. ‘The material covering the bust can be THIN FOLKS GAIN WEIGHT CLEAR SKIN AND _IN- CREASE ENERGY No ‘need to be skinny, pimply, nervous and ailing all the while— looking and feeling as if you were only half alive. RECIPE TOCLEAR| A PIMPLY SKIN Pimples are Impurities Seek- ing an Outlet Through 4 Skin Pores Pimples, sores and bolls usually result from toxins, poisons and im- purities which are generated in the bowels and then absorbed into the blood through the very ducts which should absorb only nourighment to sustain the body. It is the function of the kidneys to filter impurities from the blood and cast them out in the form of urine, but in many instances the bowels create more toxins and im- purities than the kidneys can elim!- nate; then the blood uses the akin pores as the next best means of getting rid of these fmpurities, which often break out all over the skin in the form of pimples. The surest way to clear the skin of these eruptions, says a noted au- thority, is to get from any phar- macy aboft four ounces of Jad Salts and take a tablespoonful in a glass of water each morning before breakfast for one week. This will help prevent the formation of toxins in the bowels. It also stimulates the kidneys, thus coaxing them to filter the blood of impurities and clearing the skin of pimples.
