Reve- nue Service was mysteriously shot | and killed by an unknown assailant| during raid on an Inn near Palm Beach, Fila., last night. | Acting on a hunch, Brenon went} to Sheriff Holmes’ office and en- isted the aid of Deputies Brown, Kane and others. When the officers, arrived at the resort, however, they} found no traces of liquor. Brenon suggested that someone had tipped off the proprietor. In an ante-room just off of the main hall, was Roger Wainright, a wealthy New York man who owns the plantation next to Brenon’s and who is deeply interested tn the of- ficer’s beautiful daughter, Gale. In a scuffle with Congo, a “bouncer,” who had attempted to rob Wain- right of his wallet, a revolver was discharged, the bullet piercing the Moor. In the hall Brenon, who had shad- owed Deputy Brown and discovered him accepting money as payment for tipping off the rald, drops dead. Brown sets out after the suspected the all-important Did Watnright’s murderer. But question arises: shot kill Brenon? The solution of the mystery is to be found at the Rialto theater today and tomorrow in the Paramount pic ture, ~ Bound,” with Dorothy Dalton in the ste'lar role. SHIP ANOY” OPENS AT THE COLUMBIA TONIGHT “Ship Ahoy” opens at the Colnm- bia theater tonight. Tne idea was suggested by Willie Collfer’s, “The Dictator.” The author stetched his imagination somewhat probably but mevertheless {t makes a delightful musical comedy. The story takes plece aboard a ship. Steve, the leading character, gets into trouble in New York and strikes a taxi driver, afterwards thinking that he has killed him. He takes a trip to parts unknown, meets a man aboard ship and buys from him papers that will make him an American counsel tn a province near Mexico. During the trip, a revolution has taken place in the province, When Steve appears es the new counse! he {fs threatened with tm- prisonment, for the man he Is !m- personating ig not In the best graces of the community as he has had sev- eral little escapades with many of the native women. One Spanish ‘woman of the revengful type makes it rather hot for Steve. Steve in company with his valet manages to outwit the sluggish Drain of General Campos by the ald of his wireless and wins out in the end. A special setting surrounds the show, and everything of the trop! cal seas lends a delightful atmos- phere to the production. Vaude- ville offerings by Mr. and Mrs. Bud Brownie, Tiney Brennen, Miss Tur- ner, Miss Mertyn Murray, Mr, Ire land, Maudian Dunver, and Mr. Newman will be interspersed, as well as song numbers by Jack Quinn, Miss O'Neill and Mr. Dunbar. ——————_____ “GLORIOUS FOOL” ENDS TONIGHT AT IRIS THEATER “The Glorious Fool,” the Gol@wyn Picture now playing at the Iris thea- tre, lives up to all the good things we have heard about it. Mrs. Mary Roberts Rhinehart, the author of the story, has an uncanny sense of comedy values on the screen with- out ever becoming commonplace. For her latest Goldwyn picture, she has chosen the scene of her first Professional work, a large city hos- pital, for the background. Here we find a pretty little pro- Ddationer, whose sympathy for her patient {s so deep that when, In a delirium, he begs her to marry him so that his relatives who are wait- ing for him to die in order to inherit his wealth will be disappointed, she painfully consents. He takes a quick turn for the better and the poor nurse finds herself in a quandary. However, the patient is delighted. Those who have seen Barney Ber- nard and Alex Carr in the stage play will be just as pleased in wit nessing their work in the cinema. Abe Potash and “Wawruss” Perl mutter are ere and just as much alive as they have ever been. These two gentlemen who become Partners in the business of outfitting fashionable ladies furnish plenty of laughs and a few tears during the progress of their business, Bernard rather outshines Carr in the film version, but either is too good to miss. Vera Gordon of “Humoresque” fame is also an excellent character that can scarcely receive any too much credit for her work as the wife of Abe Potash. 4 Practically everything which the film fan wants in a picture is in “Potash and Perlmutter.” There Is humor, pathos, danger, romance, and pretty women. The picture ts playing today and tomorrow at the America.
