It 1s safe to say that every- one who saw that picture will want to see Jesse D. Hampton's new screen version of it made at the Goldwyn studios under the direction of Lambert Hillyer, and, that every- one who did not see the first pictur- ization will make certain of seeing the new ons. It will be seen at the Iris theatre for two days, beginning Friday. There is perhaps* no American novel of the century which lends itself more readily to screen treat- ment. It pictures vividly the adven- tures, hardships, the rampant greed and the devotion which were so forcibly brought out among the peo- ple taking part in the great Klon- dike gold rush. It {s filled to the brim with just such rapid action big dramatic moments and strenu- ous conflicts as screen patrons de- light in, Its producer spared no expense and no pains fin making this new production as far in ad- vance of the first screen version of the story as that picture was in advance of other feature produo- tions of its day. ‘The cast ts a notable one, includ- ing Milton Bills, Barbara Bedford, Anna Q. Nilsson, Noah Beery, Rob: ert Edeson, Mitchell Lewis, Wallace MacDonald, Ford Sterling, Robert McKim, Sam de Grasse, John Elliott, Louise Fazenda, Kate Price, Rockliffe Fellowes, Gordon Russell, Albert Roscoe, Tom McGuire and The final showings of the Para- mount picture, “Ruggles of Red Gap,” which opened at the Ria'to theater, Saturday, will take place there this afternoon and evening. So CLERGY GIVES PRAISE TO “HUMAN HEARTS” A challenge to 1,500 New York clergymen to “come, see and criticise if you can” was tssued by King Baggot, director of the Universal Picture “Human Hearts” when that film was shown in New York City. Baggot asserted his belief in the good intention of moving picture producers. Critics and reformers to the contrary, all branches of the titm industry are striving to make clean pictures, Baggot contended. As proof of his statements he of. fered his picture “Human Hear! explaining it would be found to thri'ling and filled with interest and suspense, yet clean as a whistle and surcharged with high principles. Hundreds of clergymen accepted. Scores of letters later were received from them highly praising the pic- ture and complimenting Baggot and Universal. “Human Hearts” was adapted from Hal Reid’s celebrated rural drama of a decade ago.
