CHICAGO, Oct. 4.—Mrs. Helen Elwood Stokes, who has personally led an investi- gation of her charges that a conspiracy existed in con- nection with the New York @ivorce sult instituted by her hus band, W. EB. D. Stokes, millionaire hotel man, to besnzirch her reputa tion, went before the county grand Jury today to tell her story. Mrs. Stokes -has charged that her Busband’s agents have sought to ob tain evidence that she once was an fnmate of a notorious resort in Chi- eago’s vice district a dozen years ago at a time when she and her friends say she was little more than agirl in Denver. She and her coun- ae) have charged that perjured affi- @avits and trick photographs were manufactured in the alleged con- epiracy to show her a woman with out virtue. She was allowed by the state's at- terney to go before the grand jury today because the second hearing of the divorce suit which she ts vigor- ously contesting, is set to be heard in New York next Monday. The state's attorney made it clear that her appearance before the grand fury did not mean a ruse to obtain an early indictment, should the evi dence warrant, but to permit her to tell her story before proceeding to New York to be present at the @ivorce hearing. Next week it was indicated, other witnesses may be heard. CHICAGO, Oct. 4—(By The Asso- elated Preas.)\—Two Chicago men, both negroes, were reported to have been named in a true bill charging conspiracy after Mrs. Helen Elwood Stokes had testified before the grand jury concerning her charges of conspiracy to ruin her reputation in connection with the New York di yorce sult of her husband. A parodox in his character is noted in that while he says he “planted’ the body of a stranger, to be identi- fied as his, so that his wife might collect insurance money reaching $100,000 ‘he now displays no interest in her except when reminded. Mrs. Kels, an expectant mother, is reported critically ill and has not been told of her husband's :re- turn from his supposed grave. Letters found on Kels at Eureka were addressed to Mrs. May Han- diin, his sister; W. H. Lorenz, Lod! banker and sheriff Riecks. The letter to the sheriff was re- tained, but he asked for the other two and they were returned to him and destroyed. In his letter to Lorenz he merely thanked him for his long standing friendship. Dr. Sauer further satd:—“If your daily diet contains an abundant amount of fron you are giving your body the red blood food. it craves. But if your blood lacks fron and is thin, pale and watery you cannot expect to be strong and On the contrary, your nerves become weakened and you become irritable, fussy and easily upset... In such cases, what you need is tron—or- ganic fron to remove the cause of your trouble and the moment or- ganic iron is supplied it is often wonderful how quickly your multi- tude of symptoms will disappear and how strong and vigorous you will become.” But be careful to distinguigh between ordinary met- allic iron which people usually take Metallic and true organic iron.
