The following, published in behalf of the drive for building funds being conducted by the Grace English Luth: eran church, should rovert to the benefit of every organization as the truths expounded apply to all. (Contributed) Dr. Cromer’s case was promptly alled this morning and the arguments pro and con were made. The case was quickly briefed, witnesses sworn nd examined, and arguments made. ‘The lawyer for the plaintiff argued most earnestly and eloquently, giving 4 clear and forceful statement of the facts involved in the case, It was net an ordinary qomplaint, nor a usual case. Dr. Cromer was engaged in pro- claiming the old Gospel, with what ability and power he had, and he should not have been arrested at all, The judge should now guilt the case, throw it out of court ag having ni sort of justification. But more than this, the apostles themselves arranged for the proper conduct of the affairs of the church wher it established the order of dea cons, choosing out from among their number twelve men who were of good report, and full of the Holy Ghost, to take care of the temporal Interesta, so that the apostles themselves could give their whole attention to the preaching of the gospel, So, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we have divine endorsement for our position, and demand a just and ade- quate penalty, so that hereafter this matter may be considered settled. Besides, we add in conclusion, there ig an additional argument in the ‘act that in this day the preacher assumes too much of the work of the Church and does not give his members enough to do to keep them interested. Let the members raiss the money, end let the preacher do the preaching. Dr. Cromer, we grant, is a good man and cught not be punished, but a greater than he gave his life for the Salvation of the world, and if he be @ true min- ister of the gospel, he should be wil- ng to suffer that the cause may be saved. Your honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, thanking you for your splen- @id attention, and feeling sure you will find for the prosecution, I yield the floor. Then the lawyer for the accused, the defendant in the case, arose, He had closely followed the prosecutor, and at times was nervous, and ill at ease but he did not interrupt. It is only reasonable fo say that he felt the force of his opponent's argument quite keenly, and was no ttle worried as to how he would be able to clear his venerable client. He fully appreciated his client's age and general standing in the community, and felt that a verdict of guilty would not only shorten his days, out would cast @ pall of gloom over the commun: ity, and among his friends. And so he began slowly, commend- ing himself ag fully as possible to the jury by magnanimous'y admitting much of what his opponent had said. But after these necessary pre! inapies he launched upon his defe Your honor, ladies and gent'emen of the jury, I must ask particular atten- tion to the line of argument I must necessarily pursue to do justice to my client, The statements by the prosecutor may all be admitted without injury or weakness tg our case, The true facts in the case lie be- neath the surface, The fact of the necessity of churches has entirely been overlooked. Even in the wilderness when God's children lived in tents, God command- ed the tabernacle to be built that He might have an abiding place among them, We must not forget that God would dwell with his people and have @ place in honor cf His name where they might come and talk with Him. And when the tabernacle was built all the tribes had their share in the labor and furnishings. Even the Levites who served at the altar must suspend their services until the holy place was built and thoroughly fur nished. Now the defendant has not suspend.| pd his preaching. He still ho'ds reg- ‘ular services morning and evening at their accustomed place of worship, and rather than wait until the mem- bers could raise the money he was willing to cast himself into the breach, and help. Besides the plaintiff has more right|. and justice on his side than the Lev- ites. Then the whole program of Israel was stopped and all hastily built the tabernacle. But how is it today? Business.is the lord of our age, Business is as arbitrary a dictator as a Caesar, Nap- oleon, or Kaiser, Hig commands are absolute and the laborer must obey True the laborer must make himself RUB GENTLY AND UPWARD TO- WARD THE HEART AS BLOOD IN VEINS FLOWS THAT WAY If you or any relative or friend is worried because of varicose veins, or bunches, the best advice that anyone Wolcott Phone 113 DR. Mail orders accepted,— advertisement worthy of his hire, and give recelved. But business has grown so big that they must rob God of His day, and many of the members are thus em- ployed, and besides having no time on velue week days for church work, have . hardly time to come to church on Sunday, If the raising of funds must be left entirely to these men, churches would never be built. But churches are a necessity. erything must have a home. is no exception to this rule. But this applies most forcibly to the Tt i stil! God's abiding place. The tabernacle gave way to the Temple which for grandeur and beauty has never been excelled. We need not argue the necessity for churches more than to say, It ts so great, so absolutely impertant, so paramount over all other considera- Ev- There Follow Me . BABY, ALL I Gorra Do ‘Ss DRAG YOu THroven YES, YOU THOUGHT You COULD COOGE ‘7 OY STAVING tions, that even tho the preaching must stop altogether for a time, it would be justified in the necessity of a home where God dwells and meets with His people, Now people of Casper, what ts your verdict? You are the jury. You have it in your power to say whether or not this pastor is guilty. It ts for you to say whether Dr. Cromer should not give his time toward erecting a beautiful edifice in our city. Do you appreciate the fact that $20,000 of outside money is awaiting the raising of a similar amount by the citizens of Casper. See how much you gave for the Rodeo. How much wil! you give this new church organization, and vindi- cate Dr, Cromer, aquit him of the ch s, by helping to build his new church?
