EXCITING FIGHT STAGED IN “WOMAN CONQUERS” AT THE AMERICA THEATER In a lonely cabin, far from ctvill- zation, surrounded by miles of track- less snow, two men battle for life and for the possession of a beautiful woman in one of the thrilling ep!- sodes of “The Woman Conquers,” presented by W. P. Schulberg, which Katherine MacDonald is star- “| ring at the America theater today and tomorrow, tomed to making a quick end of those who oppose him. The outcome of the fight seems all too clear, even though Van Cort fights valientty, when a third com- batant enters in the person of Ninon LeCompte, the girl who will be claimed by the victen She turns the tide of victory by the most dar. ing means. As Ninon LeCompte, Miss M1 ald is seen in the role that calls forth Donald there are Bryant Washburn as Freddy Van Cort, Mitchell Lewis as Lazer and June Elvidge and Flora O'Hare. Others of importance among the players are Clarissa Selwynne, Boris Karloff and Francis McDonald. Tom Forman directed the production from the story and scenario by Violet Ci LICENSES REQUIRED. SWEDEN, RULE STOCKHOLM, Aus 14—Radio Phone sending stations in Sweden are to be owned and supervised by the state while receiving seta may be in- stalled and operated by virtually any person who goes through the for- mality of obtaining a license. This {s indicated by tho request which the| Swedish government has just made to the Department of Telegraphs to submit formal application for the right to establish radiophone broad- casting service, The request also invites further proposal of plans and requires the department to consult with the proper military authorities as well as the Meteorological Insti- tute, Although the state ts to own and control the radjophone stations, the actual operation ts to ba a conces. sion to one or more private compan-| {es during the first few years, accord-| ing to the generel plans. Revenues for the necessary ex: Penses of operation are to be ob- tained by taxing the owners of ro- celving sets. A portion of these taxes will go to the operating com. pany. BE LARGE AGAIN Wyoming Industries Will Receive Great Boost Through Displays # DOUGLAS, Wyo. ‘Aug. 14—~The plang for the Nineteenth Annual State Fair are rapidly nearing completion and the management {s endeavoring ta combine the educational, entertain. ment and service features in such « way that exhibitors, producers and visitors will fully appreciate the value to Wyoming of this great educational institution. Onty such changes as would increase their Importance have been made tn the live stock departments, and judg~ ing by the requests being made for entry blanks, these departments will have more than their usual quota of entries, The Brauer Pure Bred Duroa Co., of Colorado Springs plan on @n- tering about 25 head of their best show stock, The Acme Farm Polands of Lusk will enter many Poland Chis nas. C. G. Cochran & Co. of Hay Center, Kan., are entering some of thelr best “Charming English” Here fords and “Rose of Sharon” Short horns. D. Warnock & Sons of Love. land, Colo. will show thetr “Model Type” shorthorns and A. D. McGill vray will show the best of his famoug Poland China Hogs. As keen compe- tition ‘s what the breeders of bred stock want, many adiitional en tries by well known breeders will na doubt be sent in. Oklahoma, Utah, Montana, Iowa and Mlinols breeders are requesting entry blanks, indicat- ing m revived interest in the Wyoming State Fair in the part of outside .| breeders. Important and beneficial changed have been made in the agricultural division. The manner of displaying: county booths will be such that these exhibits, as a whole, will present an inspiring sight to those visiting Agri+ cultural Hall and will impress every one, citizen and stranger alike, with the productiveness and quality pf Wyoming's agriculture. And those Wyomt: counties making up this large display; of Wyoming’s develop~ ment will reap those benefits usually attendant upon advertising to the People in a concrete way, The work of collecting, planning and displaying |_ county’s resources has usually been. put into the hands of the respective county agents, those counties having no agents remaining away. With a view to having every county in the, state represented this year, a rule has been made allowing two or more in- dividuals of a county to combine their efforts and display the resources off their county a# @ county exhibit. The entertainment program will be an unusual one. A Wild West show embracing all those stunts wheren the cowboy clan can display its skill and daring and sense of humor will be held daily, Added to this will be the Keewah Serkus, contributed and managed by the Kiwanis Club of Douglas. In adf@ttion to real automo~ bile races, the Serius will tno!ude pie eating contests, greased pig races, Indian squaw races and many other mirth-provoking stunts, with some) thing new each day, Plans have been completed for holding state ips for golf, tennis and horseshoe pitching, and as the “bugs” of these various species are located in every section of thei state, it ts belleved that every county in the state will be represented in this gathering of sportsmen. The old fiddlers contest ts, according to Secretary Hale, creating the greatest amount of enthusiasm. There will be! many contestants for the prizes of- fered and it will be @ treat to hear! the old boys fiddle such old-time Pieces as “Annie Roonte,” “The Blue and the Gray” and so on, adding that wit and humor which many of them. are noted for, In the way of “service,” the mane agement of the Fair is now working out plans for holding a pure bred live stock and feeders sale. Two regis. tered pure-bred live stock auctioneers of national reputation have agreed to conduct the sale without cost to the fair and @ number of breeders of Dure bred stock have agreed to enter one or more car loads in the sale, This will give the breeders of Wyoming an opportunity to personally inspect and purchase at competitive prices herd bulls, rams and boars and such other breeding stock as they may need. As for the feeder sale, it ts plan ned to bring the feeder buyers of the middie western states and the grow. ers of Wyoming together at the fatr, thereby enabling buyers end sellers to trade at a saving of time and money to both.
