A. ‘The board of management of the Young Woman's Christian assoc!ation met Friday evening in the association rooms in the Smith-Turner building. Owing to the fact that they have secured no secretary as yet, the work being done by the association, in find- ing employment for women and girls and locating strangers in town, as the following report will show: Employment report — Three hun- dred seventy-five women and girls, placed their applications for various | kinds of work, three hundred and six- ty-nine employers asked for help, and of these calls 365 were filled. There is still a scarcity of house maids, and such cells are rather hard to fil. In rams registry, fourteen rooms have been investigated and listed Thirty-six people found rooms, and many transients were located in ho- tels and rooming houses. We also had thirty’ calls for apartments, which could not be filled. The arsociation rooms are used everyday by a large number of girls and women, and children are fre- quently left at the rooms, while the mothers are doing their shopping. _ ~ SOCIETY RECENT AND COMING EVENTS IN SOCIAL CIRCLES OF CASPER Four girl's reserves attending the girl's conference at Estes Park, are having an interesting and instructive time. The public as well es all Maccabees | are invited to attend. eee | Rotary Club Picnic At Wheeler Ranch Nearly 100 persons including mem- bers of the Casper Rotary club and their families, attended a picnic Mon- day night at the ranch of M. P. Wheeler a short distance up the Platte river. Since Monday is the regular meeting date of the Rotar- jans, Mr. Wheeler had invited them to his ranch for dinner. The reg ular noon luncheon was dispensed with. The scenic beauty of the place com- bined with the hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler furthered the enjoy- ment of the guests to such an extent that all declared it to be the best meeting of the year. A supper was served in the open air shortly after 6 o'clock, During the evening the guests con tested for honors in popular games, ee Epworth League Officers Hold Meeting Monday, On Monday evening the Epworth League officers and their asristants enjoyed a pleasant social and busi ness meetting at the Methodist church. The young people met at 6:30 for the excellent dinner prepared by Mrs. Harry Hawkins. Miss Eda Holland, the president, presided at the busi- ness meeting, and the reports of the various (épartments were read and discursed, Plans were made in regard to the Epworth League State Institute which will be held at Thermopolis August 20 to 26, and the local organ ization will be represented by a large delegation. The fourth vice president, Ray Traylor, announced that the league will conduct a social hour on Sunday evening, July 8th, at which all the young people of the church and con gregation wil! be welcome.
