CHICAGO, April 2.—(B; School boy basketball stars from thirty states are here today to compete in the national invitation interscholastic basket- ball tournament which opens at the University of Chicago to- morrow, continuing until Saturday night. PARIS, April 2—(By The Associ ated Press.)—Xopime yesterday won the President De La Republique stakes at the Auteuil race course. Master Bob was second and Barker third. The winner paid 18 to one in the part mutuel betting. Master Bob was 2% to 1 for the place and Barker 2% to 1 to show. Sixteen horses finished out of 21 starters. The race was run through true to form and to the handicapping. The ight weighted Xoplme with 128 pounds up kept off the early pace. He moved up at the 4,000 meters however and took the last jump in company with Master Bob and Bar- ker, carrying respectively 151 and 160 pounds. Xopime arew away on the flat and won easily, while Master Bob and Barker fought it out neck and neck to the finish.
