This means that you can be absolutely sure of yourself in using Con- crete. You can be sure in the first place of the cement you buy. Any manufacturer of Portland cement may join the Association, and no manufacturer has to belong to it. But Association By- Laws require that mem- bers’ products shall meas- ure up tothe high standard of specifications of the United States Govern- ment and the American Society for Testing Mate- tials. Cement bought from a member of the Associa- tion is therefore depend- able. You can be equally sure of the way to use it. If you want informa- tion about its usefulness under certain conditions, or about how to mix it or place it to get the best results most economically, you can get it from any one of our 24 offices, one of which is near you. Supplying dependable informa- tion without charge, by booklet,or by personal correspondence or by conference when necessary, is the work of the Association. To sup- ply it authoritatively, the Associ- ation maiatains a large research laboratory and a staff of more than tivo hundred engineers. The Assrciation is, in effect, the joint research and educational foundation of 86 manufacturers of cement in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Cuba and South America. You are invited to use it freely. Suggestions as to how our work may be made more useful to you are invited. : PORTLAND CEMENT ASSOCIATION A National anization to Improve and Extend the Uses of Concrete. But there is one kind of a dollar that has the homing insinct. It is the dollar spent for utility service. Every thirty days 90 cents of every dollar paid for the telephone, electricity, gas or street car rides returns to the people of the community. Part of it is wages or salaries paid out by the company which received it; part of it is for the purchase of supplies or materials needed by the company; part of it is for plant or line upkeep; part of it is for property taxes. For instance, 50 cents of the average bill paid to the electric or gas company is set aside for taxes. The teiephone company pays out 45 cents of each of your bills for taxes. Many people were never aware of these facts. For instance, WERE YOU?
