CHICAGO, June 14.—Reports of ex- cessive heat in Kansas led to specu- ative buying and to higher prices in wheat, market today-shortly after the opening. -It was asserted that near Salina, Kan., the wheat was turning white as a result of the high tempera- tures prevailing, the thermometer yes- terday having registered 97. Open: ing prices which ranged from %c de len to %e advance, with July $1.09% to $1.10, and September $1.10% to $1.31. were followed by slight declines all around and then by sudden up- turn to‘well above yesterday's finish. Work on the Oregon-Montana Oil and Gas company well near Melstone is to be resumed soon as the result of an agreement between land owners and the company. The well is located on section 20-14-24. The Roundup Of1 and Gas company ts apparently succeeding in its effort to case off water from its well in the Devil's basin field near Roundup after much effort and the first real test of production will be made when cement hardens. The hole was shot for iarg- er production but the increased oil flow was mixed with water. Utah Test Down 1,803 Feet. ‘The Duchesne, Utah, well of the Ute Petroleum company, on June 4 was drilling in hard blue limestone at a depth of 1,803 feet.
