The county commissioners were Heainat the undertaking, since they considered the Alcova-Sweetwater rdad | over which a great deal of freight is | hauled to the Lost Soldier field, much ore important. They consented how- ever to the plea of the committee with the understanding that, since there was only enough in the treasury’ to last 66 days longer, that is about $12,- 000, the $4,000 to be spent on the mountain road would mean that much less money spent on the Alcova road. The mounta.n road has been under discussion for some time. Many Cas- Perites are desirous of going to the |top of the mountain on Sundays and holidays to enjoy the splendid sceu ery. The road however is so narrow that passage of two cars is difficult in all places and impossible in many. According to plans outlined some time ago by the Casper Mctor club, it was thought that at a cost of $3,500, poc- kets could be built in the road to allow for passage until such time as the whole length of the stretch could be widened. ‘ftign Catholic In Russia Is Held by Reds LONDON, June 7.—A sensation has been createi| at the vatican by a re- port of the arrest by the bolshevikt of Monsignor Szioplak, coadjutor to the Catholic Metropolitan and at present the highese Catholic authority in Rus- sia, says a dispatch to the Times from Rome.
