FILM SENSATION SHOWN HERE Foolish Wives” Untversal's costly photodrama of life and intrigue at ‘Monte Carlo, which opens today at the Hub ‘heater for a four days’ run, has been: heralded: as the costliest and biggest-picture ever screened. It lives up to its promises. Never has there been such a kaleidoscope array of beau- tiful settings and artistic photoplay combined with such adept character- ization and careful direction. Erick von Strokeim, the author, d!- rector and star of the picture, has made a screen masterpiece. What: ever faults it may have, and no_pic- ture is perfect, they are submefged by the force of the theme, by the realness of the atmosphere, and by the vivid portrayals of von Stroheim and his supporting cast.
