Officer Looks Like ° Spook, Negro Takes Wing at Cheyenne CHEYENNE, Wyo., June 6.—The glaring eye of an electric torch car- tied by a prohibition officer who had invaded his room to arrest him on a bootlegging charge so frightened Fart Welsh colored, that he leaped through a window, carrying the sash with him, dashed across the street and ran through a locked door of the home of Maggie Stowers, colored. We was captured while endeavoring co extri- cate himself from the wreckage of the splintered door and expressed pro- found thankfulness Encountering a flow of oll, esti mated by the drillers at 1,200 barrels which will necessitate the building of |a popeline to that field in the imme diate future. This well, No. 9, was drilled to a dopth of 2,026 feet last July and was deepened 17 feet recently. The’ tools arc now only eight feet in the sand and the oli ls flowing steady with no indication of slacking the volume. The land on which the well is drilled is leased by the San Juan people from the Towa-Wyoming company. Tho Midwest Refining company had an option to build a pipeline to Bolton creek but it expired June 1. Just what action will be taken by this com- pany and others interested in the pur- chase of crude petroleum is problema- tical, but a pipeline is a certainty if this well continues its initial produc- tion’ and other wells of equal capacity are drilled in. The New York'Oll com pany has several hundred barrels of |production in Bolton creek, according to reports. ‘The San Jnan Petroleum ‘comipany has commenced rigging up on a well on its 160-acre lease at Salt Creek on section 10-39-79, adjoining the Burke well which came in several weeks ago {with a daily production of 4,500 bar- rels.
