SAN FRANCISCO, March 25- ‘The testimony of Zey Prevost in the second manslaughter tral of Roscoe C. (Fatty) Arbuckle where she was the principal witness against the film comedian, was read to the jury in the third trial, after the prosecu- tion had shown that she was fll in New Orleans and unable to come to San Francisco, ‘Transportation was forwarded to her in care of District Attorney Marr, of New Orleans, it was shown, but Marr later advised she was too fl to travel. She was one of those who attended the Arbuckle party in his hotel suite here which led to the death of Miss Virginia Rappe, and. according to her testmony, saw the girl in distress and heard her cry that she was injured. Dr. Shelby P. Strange, acting au- topsy surgeon, who found that an un- official autopsy already had been performed and some of the organs of Miss Rappe removed when he was called after her death, said death was due to peritonitis superinduced by a ruptured bladder. The defense has contended that if external force had caused the rupture, the abdominat wall would have shown bruises, but Dr. Strange said it wag his opinon as an expert that the rupture could have occurred wthout bruises appear- ing. Dr. M. E. Rumwell. who attended Miss Rappe during her last IIness, and appeared as a defense witness in the first two trials was called to testify for the prosecution. No explanation was given hy the prosecu- tion for its action. He said he had ordered the unofficial autopsy and He said he found the cause of Miss Rappes death was a ruptured bladder. ‘The defense id not cross. ala Siete } Mi!
