LIVESTOCK GIVEN JOLT BY RECENT STORM Some Suffering Is Reported From Cold and Snow in Northern Wyoming but Feed Is Plentiful. 4 BY GEORGE W. PITMAN (U. 8. Weather Bureau, Cheyenne) ‘The week represented the first real touch of winter weather this season, espectally over northern counties, here the temperature average’ about 16 degrees colder than normal; over southern counties temperatures were about. normal, Day temperatures averaged $2; night, 19: with extremes ef $3 at Pine Bluff and 11 below zero 36; Balt Lake, Rapid City, 30. The severe weather in northern courtics was hard on livestock which are reported as shrinking in some lowmlities, for the range was snow- covered with four to eighteen inches "snow. Over southeastern counties the fall was lighter, ranging from one to four inches, and benefited winter grains except in extreme southeastern localities where more moisture is stil needed. Over southwestern counties snowfalls range from three to six inches, and feeding is resorted to only in localities as the snow either melted or drifted, leaving the range open in most localities. Feed js abundant ex- cept that corn is being shipped into the grasshopper areas in some north- ern counties.
