Hereafter in responding to fires the apparatus will be limited to 15 miles an hour in the congested area and 25 miles in the residence district. The new speed limitations will take. the place of the former varying speed between 40 and 60 miles an hour in all parts of the city. “We believe that the protection of human life is a mere worthy effort than the saving of property. It would be better for a house to burn down or a criminal to escape than to have someone maimed or killed in an at: jtempt to reach a destination,” said Mayor Ben ™. Pelton in opening the ‘question. ARE USED ON MAIL PLANES Vico lubricating ofls, a product of the Utah Refining company at Sait Lake have recently been. accepted by the United States government as the standard product to be-used by gov- ernment machines handling mail serv- ice across the continent. Vico oils are the only ones that could meet the strin- gent requirements of the machines as set forth in the specifications. The product was not altered in any way nor the process changed to meet gov- ernment orders. Special interest attaches to this trib- ute paid the Vico oll because a major part of the content !s developed by the Midwest Refining company from Wyoming crude. The Utah Refining company, is subsidiary of the local oil organization. T. Can Moulton, eng} neer for the Utah company, is visiting at the local plani this week. ss eat Naar Child Taken From Jardine Family Is Laid at Rest Here Simple, but impressive — services marked the funeral service for Baby Marie Jardine, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Jardine, who died Monday at a local hospital. Scores of friends of the family attended the fun- eral and the brief burial services at ‘Highland cemetery at which the Rey. Fr. John H. Mullin officiated. Fioral offerings paid tribute to the memory of the child who was beloved by all who knew her and were indica- tive of the sympathy which was ex- tended the bereaved family. A special committee from the Elks lodge, of which Mr. Jardine is an active member, assisted Todd -W. MINER IS SHOT TO DEATH FOR DRAWING KNIFE); IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo., April 8.— When Thomas Adams, a miner 1s alleged to have assaulted Town Mar- shal Willlam Ives with a knife, last night, Walter B. Behr, superintendent of the local electric power station, shot and probably fatally wounded Adams, , Adams, who sought employment at the power station, is alleged to have drawn a revolver and resorted to forceful tactics when Behr told him there were no vacancies. After leaving the two, Adams went down-town, according to Behr. The superintendent and his son secured a revolver and followed him to the town marshal, and demanded the former’s arrest, it is said. Ives asked Behr to disarm Adams. As he seized the gun, Adams is al- léged to have wielded the knife and made a thrust at the marshal, Behr then fired one shot, Adams was removed to a Denver hospital.
