PR TURAL 2A CEN EE PAGE TWELVE N VOTERS’. i H U i Closed Conference of Executives Held to Map Out Work of Second Annual Conven- tion Opening Monday CLEVELAND, Ohio, April 8.— The board of directors, regional directors and chairman of standing committees of the Nationai League of Women Voters are assembled here in a closed conference and preconvention business meeting to map out the work of the second annual convention of the league which opens here Monday and continues through the week. Up- wards of 1,000 delegates and alter- nates, representing 2,000,000 _mem- bers, are expected to attend the con- vention. The present direct primary election system and world disarma- ment were expected to be discussed. Among recommendations to be made to the convention by the stand- ing committees are: Continued efforts to pass the Shep- pard-Towner bill for federal aid for maternity and infant care. Improvement in election methods. Stop profiteering now going in the necessities of life. Educational qualification for vote in all states. Uniform laws concerning women. Program to spread knowledge of health laws. Protection of women in industry. Proposed revision of the by-laws will be presented. One important revision is to have the league elect its president and minor officers by vote of the entire convention. Rail Brotherhood Men Are Invited Out of Harrison the (By Associated Press.) JOPLIN, Mo., April 8.—Local union officials in charge of strike of em- ployes of the Missouri & North Arkan- sas railroad were making efforts to ascertain the whereabouts of a group of railroad brotherho eaders who left Harrison, Ark., late yesterday aft er a committe of citizens id visited them and asked that they depart.
