AEFINERS COME BACK IN SECOND GAME OF SERIES Locals, Show Class in Hutling and Fielding ise ith Total of 12 Runs agaihst TWo for Hot Springs Sluggers Casper reversed the tables on Thermopolis yesterday and looked like a different team in winning, 12 to 2. In contrast to the game Sun- day, Casper had a fine brand of hurling, excellent “suppot for Hunt} da: in the field, ahd was out there play- ing ball at bat and in field. Thete was little question as to the winner aftet the sixth stanza with the local nine five runs ahead. Iron had an off day. The Ther. mopolis hurler was wild and was h{t freely by. the heavy hitting Cas- per batters. Hunt was the opposite. He let the visitors down with seven safe blows and fanned eleven Ther- mopolis: batters in the nine stanzas he worked. Hunt's hurling was a joy to the reoters who saw the con- test yesterday. He worked easily in all but the eig’}th, when with the yame safely tucked away, the sup- port -wobbled which coupled with a two bagger let in two scores. By winning yesterday Casper ap peared to have a slight show to eatch up with Thermopolis when all games played this season are considered. Of the eleven contests played, Cas. per has won four, while Thermopoli: has copped the remaining seven. All but two of these seven were won in Thermopolis, while Casper has won but one of its four games in Thermop- olis. By winning both games here Friday afid Satutday, the local nino will still be two games behind. Mr. Saunders, acting Manager of the Thermopolis nine, called atten. tion to the fact that, the first two games played at Thermopolis had ‘been forgotten by many fans ih the state, But these were Thermopolli: victories and make considerable dif. ference in the standing. Both were latge Thermopolis wins. Casper started out yesterday with the intention of winning and sidéd by three walks donated by Iron, garnered three counters without ¢ blew, being struck.. A passed’ bal’ helped the run-making along. Mce- Neill,, Metz, and Rose were the lucky boys to receive transportation. In the -fourth, a two bagger by Hunt followed by a sweet single by MeNeill counted our Mr. Hunt, The sixth saw Mister Hunt, work- ing along invmuch the sameway, nip- ping them while they stood up to bat. Bostick’s dent in the-platter counted but the Ther- mop players were greatly perturbed altho Umpire Daily had ruled the man out if he been intercepted. The Casper players were rampant in the seventh and eighth, running wild on the sacks and taking advan: tage of every little misplay. - Me- Neill led off with a two bagger, Hayes singled.. Then Rose came thru with his second hit of the day. Then a passed ball,,a balk, and a walk did the remainder of the damage. Three walks, a double by Manage Arbogast, and the third hit for Rose during the game, brot in four in the eighth. The birth- y girls received many lovely gifts and best wishes from the guests. The guests e ae weed cafete-| tia enjoyed an unusual treat when the Misses Edna Zimmer, violinist, ahd Ethel Anderson, piano accompa-| nist, entertained Sunday evening. The latter pub- lished the information in good faith; while Hunt helped his own game along Only a bob- ble on a difficult ‘play by Whittle marred the playing of the local nine yesterday. For Thermopolis, Reagan was the} brilliant player with five assists and two put outs without a double. Bas-| sett also looked good in center field | with two hard catches. He also show- ed well by getting a three base blow in the fourth stanza. This afternoon the strong Moor- croft nine comes here to start a three- game series with the local team. The} games will start promptly at 5:30 o’elock. This northern Wyoming team is said to be fully as fast and heady a team as the one which hails from! Thermopvlis.
