REFINERS SPLIT HONORS ON TRIP TOTHERMOPOL!S Second GaiaeiMonine Monday Goes to Hot Springs Bunch at End of Five Innings When Full Game Is Called Casper lost the second game at Thermopolis yesterday afternoon to the old time rival nine, 5 to 3, in a five inning affair. The contest was called at the end of the fifth stanza to ellow the local nine to leave for ‘home. Then the train did not arrive in Thermopolis until 7:20 o'clock. But Thermop has the best end of the score and now holds a one-game lead over the strong Casper aggregation. Maples hurled an excellent game and his team mates thought he had ‘no license to lose the game. An er- ror in the second inning and a gen- eral mix-up in the infield of the locel team allowed three runs to come in and gave the contest to Thermopolis. ‘There were two out when these counters came across and Casper was leading three to one. The final re- sult should have been three to one, fans who saw the game said. Liese, the Thermop pitcher, did not look good in the game yesterday. He had fair control but the Casper slug- gers found his offerings extremely ac- ceptable in the opening chapter when he was lambasted for three runs. The hits were evenly divided between the ‘two teams, each obtaining six safe ‘blows. ! Thermop scored one in the first after Casper had three to its credit, ‘counted three in the second 26 ex- plained, and then added one more in the fifth.
