SATURDAY, JULY 12, 1919 GETS EXPENSES FROM ESTATES Bills Are Sent to Berlin and Paid Out of Revenues, Now in Hands of New German Government AMERONGEN, (Correspondence of The Associated Press.)—The for- amer German emperor has been dis- cussing his financial problems for more than a week with Doctor J. Kriege, who has been in charge of the imperial estates and funds in Germany since the Hohenzollern ab- dication. Dr. Kriege, one of the former German functionaries of the German Foreign Office, has been here i: con- ference with Herr Hohenzoliern when the latter was not engaged in wood-sawing. The marshal of the German emperor’s court, Von Con- tard, also participated in the discus- sions. The former emperor is not short of money, as he possessed a co1- siderable amount ‘on deposit in Ho!l- land before the war began. Ibis was added to appreciably while hos- tilities were in progress. During ibe few stirring weeks preceding his ab- dication, William and his folowers transferred further large sums in ready cash. But William is troubled as to the fate of his real estate. He possess- ed no fewer than fifty-five castles, hunting boxes and country seats seattred over the empire. The reve- nues of these properties, are for the present at least in the hands of the i . These ac- counts have been quite formidable, as the imperial refugee is called upon to pay for everything he consumes, as well as for his accommodation and the upkeep of his suite, besides paying the wages of the gardeners and domestics of the Bentinck es- tate who render him services while wood-cufting or in the household. The expenses of the Dutch guard of gendarmes on duty around the castle also fall on the Hohenzollern purse. The German government’s inicn- tions concerning the former em- peror’s private fortune ‘cannot be gleaned here. Germans recently from the fatherland declared there is a great deal of purely personal sympathy for William among all classes and that it is likely he will receive a large portion of the value of what he owned. They say it is probable that most of the casiles} and country houses will be sold and the cash result paid to William’s ac- count, but a number of them nay be retained as government prop2ity | to be used for the purposes of loc: government headquarters. This they consider an equitable arrang which will not deprive the ex arch of his rghts as a private cilizen as, they believe, would be the case if his property were confiscated PARIS TO HAVE SIX. MILLION NO YEARS PARIS.—(By Mail.)—A statisti- cian who had made a study of the growth of the population of Paris esti- mates that the city, within its pres- ent limits, will have 6,000,000 inhabi- tants in another half century and that | the population of the department of the Seine, which he thinks will then be a part of the capital) will have in- creased to 14,3Q0,000. . He bases his figures on the actual development of the city since 1800) and the progressive density of the population which went from 85 to the | acre in 1861 to 146 to the acre in| 1911. In 1961, he anticipates Par’ will cover 432,500 acres, practically the entire territory of the depart- fnent of the Seine and some com-| munes of the Department of Seine et Oise. ) AFRIGHT WITH PIMPLES ON FACE And Arms.
