Among the items in the appropria- tions bill before the Missouri legisla- ture is one for $100,000 for ex-Con- federate pensions. Pwo years ago the legislature passed a bill paying Missotri Ex-Confederates a pension of $10 per month and appropriating $30,000 for that purpose. That amount was found to be insufficient and a larger appropriation was asked of this legislature. S. B. McFerrin of this city has received letters from Represetative Sharp who says he is helping push the bill in the House, also one from State Auditor Gordon saying the funds will be available|eas City Times. Our next joint debate will be held at Mt. Olive school house on Friday night, March 26, 1915. A cordial in- vitation to the public is given to all these meetings. His Speed Exceeds the Engine. “Old Cap” Abel, who for many years was a conductor on the Butler- Madison branch of the Missouri Pacific, now has the run from Joplin to Topeka.
