First, five bar- rels of a No. 1 road oil were sprayed into a dust mulch, and the street was then dragged. After the surface had become thoroughly saturated with the oil, the steam roller was brought into play and the street rolled until packed hard and smooth. The block now presents the appearance of a finished boulevard and the surface seems as hard and firm as paving. Apparently it will stand the most se- vere weather and traffic. The 5 bar- rels of oil cost approximately $15 which cost will be reduced by a re- $1 each.
