A farmer, one of these strenuously industrious farmers, nesded a hand to plow. He went to town and enquired of @ merchant ithe knew where he could get a good hana, The merchant referred him to a young man about town who had been Inquiring for employment, When the farmer found the young man, the latter told the tiller of the soll that he had worked on the street a few days, carpentered 2 or 3 days and had worked ina livery stable for a week, and that what he want- ed, was a stoady job. The two agreed on wages and went to the farmer’s home, arriving there after nightfall. The farmer had his hand up by 3 o’clock the next morning. The young man milked 7 cows, fed, cur- ried and harnessed 4 teams and fed the hogs before breakfast. After breakfast he hitched up the team and wasat the field by the peep o’day. He plowed throughout the long morning and after a few minutes re- spite for dinner, plowed again dur- ing the almost endless afternoon, as late ashe could see, when he went home again milked the 7 cows, fed the teams and the hogs, getting supper about 9 o’elock.
